Which Rhythmics did not play 3oh3?

only1moore might know the answer to this. Which CHR/Rhythmics never touched 3oh3-Don't Trust Me?

With so many rhythmics playing some pop these days I'm interested in what stations are bucking the trend and staying pure. I have always liked stations that don't follow the herd mentality. For example in 1984 I was in awe of the AOR stations that did not play any pop acts and stayed pure rock. Getting back to "Don't Trust Me", it seems as good as any song to determine which side of the fence rhythmics are on.

3 stations that I will guess didn't play it are

KXBT/Austin..they seem to be making a name for themselves as a rhythmic not on the pop bandwagon.

KBOS/Fresno..They have a long history of not playing pop crossovers. I remember being impressed in 1991 when they had the courage to sit out on "Everything I Do" by Bryan Adams.

KVEG/Las Vegas..I live in LV and have never heard them play it once.

Are these correct? How about the others?

It looks like you're right. KXBT, KBOS and KVEG have not touched "Don't Trust Me." For now.

However, Here's a list of stations that have it on their playlist: KSFM, WPRT, KDLW, WJFX, KKWD, KZON, KIBT, WIBT, WRVZ, WHZT, KISV, KYLD, KSEQ, WBBM, WPOW and KLUC. I wouldn't be surprised if this list pick up a few more stations.

As for whether that would make them outright Top 40/CHRs, I doubt it and with these outlets its nothing new for them.

Robert, I was surprised to see KIBT 96.1 The Beat Colorado Springs, and KISV Kiss 94.1 Bakersfield add the song. I know a lot of the Cali Rhythmics that played it have done so for 2 main reasons
1) Wild 94.9 San FRrancisco is EXTREMELY influential. If they add a non-Rhythmic song and keep it in rotation then other Cali Rhythmics will follow suit
2) The huge success 97.1 Amp Radio in L.A. has had, especially with Hispanics. This is a CHR/Pop station that leans heavily on the Rhythmic side, but has also had a lot of success with records by 3Oh! 3 and All American Rejects. This station's had a huge influence on the CHR/Pop panel, and on some of the Rhythmic CHRs. Several CBS-owned stations (Amp Radio is owned by CBS) from the Rhythmic panel are now moving more towards the Amp Radio sound, ie they're going CHR/Pop. This is most noticeable at Sacramento's KSFM 102.5 and 101.5 Jamz Phoenix. You'll also notice another CBS-owned station, Movin 99.7, a former Rhythmic AC, is now also sounding more and more like 97.1 amp Radio (though they're also flirting with Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody"). Non-CBS owned stations that seem to be influenced by Amp Radio's success include 95.7 The Party Denver (formerly Rhythmic AC) and 102.5 The Party Nashville (now labelled as a Rhythmic CHR instead of CHR/Pop). Keep monitoring stations like Wild 97.7 Albuquerque, 104.3 Hit FM El Paso, and Q-97 Fresno as they too are expected to sound more and more like Amp Radio. Even prior to Amp Radio you already had a couple of Rhythmic CHRs in Oklahoma (Wild 104.9 and 92.1 The Beat) as well 96.1 The Beat Charlotte and Hot 107.9 Ft. Wayne tweak their sound, and they've opened up their playlists to several non-Rhythmic hits at a time. Not just Pink or Katy Perry either.

KXBT isn't Rhythmic anymore. They are now Latin Pop "Digital 104.9". They flipped from Top40/Rhythmic "Beat 104.9" back in Sept. 2008.

Sorry I meant KDHT.

It looks like KBBT/San Antonio doesn't play it either.

I was wondering about that when you mentioned KXBT.

You might want to also pay close attention to Billboard and Mediabase's Rhythmic charts as well. They seem to be reflecting what these stations are playing. Plus I'm also surprised that some of the aforementioned Rhythmics are still reporting to those panels.

BTW speaking of Billboard, "That's Not My Name" by The Ting Tings just entered the Rhythmic chart (for the week ending August 15, 2009) at #40. Thanks to support from KSFM, WXIS, WDRE, KZFM, WBBM, XHTO, KSEQ, WJFX, KTBT and KZON.

Another song that also could make the Rhythmic chart soon is Cobra Starship's "Good Girls Go Bad," which is picking up steam at WPRT, KSFM, KZON, WIBT, WBBM, KKWD, KLUC and WJFX.

Even out here in Guam, all three Top 40s - KUAM-FM, KZGZ, and KOKU - are also following that pattern as well.

Although I don't like the 3OH3 song... not in the least... I'm not at all surprised that this gets played on a few rhythmics. And even if it does how does that mean that the stations aren't being "pure"? Are rhythmics supposed to be 100% urban? Remember 20 years ago this format was called "Crossover" and was built on mainstream top 40 hits with a beat, mixed with dance and urban hits.

I think I'm more surprised at a song like Maxwell's "Pretty Wings" hitting the Rhythmic chart. I mean that song... although I do like it... is strickly Urban AC material. What is the slightest bit rhythmic about that? At least "Don't Trust Me" has a beat. An annoying song, yes, but I think musically it fits.

I always considered rhythmic to mean edgier top 40 you hear in the clubs. 3oh3 with it's corny lyrics and beat is more pop in my opinion. For the record rhythmic Fly 921 hear in Fort Walton beach Florida thankfully doesn't touch it.

I'm pretty sure WJMN in Boston hasn't touched this

Interestingly enough KOPW Power 106.9, which reports as an Urban, does play 3 Oh!3.
And for the person who said Fly 92.1 doesn't play cheesy records like that, please. I like WFFY but thewy have no problem playing "Kiss Me Through The Phone" by Soulja Boy so they are not that edgy. If anything, "Don't Trust Me" is considered one of the ediger records on CHR radio these days as it broke out of the Modern Rock camp, and its lyrics are very edgy (especially the Hellen Keller reference).

I didn't say fly doesn't play some cheesy records. They just don't play this one. At least right now.

It looks like I was right about Cobra Starship/Leighton Meester's "Good Girls Go Bad." It just entered the Billboard Rhythmic Top 40 chart (for the week ending August 29th, 2009) at number 34. And if thats not surprising, Jason Mraz's 2008 hit "I'm Yours" just entered at number 40.

From the way it looks, Rhythmic Top 40 is now the "New" Top 40/CHR.
