Which Station In Your Area Has The Worst Picture??

Here in Houston

2.2 This picture quality is = 240p or 340p youtube video KPRC runs this station and they only run 2 total channels with out 2 channel This should really close to 720p but it is not. I like some of the movies this plays but with the quality so bad I just do not even watch them

14 is all religious stations quality is so so on most of them

15 and all subs channels is the worst everything is equal to 240p these are leased access and the people do not seem to care about quality

21 a few are just crap

28.1 28.8 religious quality is just crap

30.1 get 3 bars and the just chops and you see pixels every few seconds they have real technical problems

43.5 43.8 both the picture quality is decent it is half screen but it shoe boxed just dumb

I don't understand all the tech talk here, but I do know that in the Idaho Falls/Pocatello market, KPVI NBC Channel 6 owned by Interwest Mountain Communications, is horrible, IMO. It is almost as if nobody cares. In addition, their news set would have been cutting edge, in 1985. Good Gawd, these guys seem to have lost the will to win.

Those channel numbers mean absolutely nothing to those of us who don't live in the Houston area. Please clarify. Thank you.

This is just a thread for people to list the stations in there area with the worst picture quality.

That's not my point. I have no idea which stations any of those numbers are referring to except for "2.2", and even that was only because you referenced the KPRC call letters. You could have easily done this (my change in bold):

KPRC 2.2 This picture quality is = 240p or 340p youtube video KPRC runs this station and they only run 2 total channels with out 2 channel This should really close to 720p but it is not. I like some of the movies this plays but with the quality so bad I just do not even watch them

See? That's not so hard, is it?

Remember: Context helps. :)

Intermountain West is selling KPVI. Unfortunately, the planned new owners don't own much of anything interesting. (The Fox/ABC affiliate in Macon, maybe?)

Here in Phoenix I don't see any appreciable difference in the FP stations with the exception of 21 which tries running 5 or 6 subs. Since most of their stuff is religious talking heads it doesn't seem to matter. Of the LP's it depends upon how many subs they are running and the quality of their source programming. 44.4 for instance has an analog-quality picture but it runs so many very old TV shows most turn out to be quite fuzzy.

This news isn't even known in the Idaho Falls/Pocatello market as far as I know. I do see it listed on the Frontier website however.

Here in the Denver area, that honor would go to Indie KCDO 3 & their HD feed (Which is on some Digital LP on 28.3 & Comcast carries in the HD tier on Channel 649)

My TV says it's a 720p 16:9 feed but the picture looks more like its a 480p 4:3 picture instead (KCDO looks as good as everyone else in SD though)

Even KBPI 12 (PBS) & all of its diginets look better in SD than KCDO 3 does in HD

Cheers & 73 ;D

I would have to award this one to WCPX Chicago, since they're owned by Ion Media. Ion runs a 720p channel & 3 subchannels, which isn't the problem. They're also running mobile TV, & Airbox on their bandwidth, which makes all their subchannels look like crap.

WLS-TV 7.2 has Livewell Network, & ABC insists on running Livewell Network on their stations in 720p HD. So while 7.1 may look ok, 7.2 looks like crap.

Depending on what WTTW might be running, any one of the channels with the WTTW stream might look like crap. 11.1 is in 1080i HD, while 11.2 is widescreen SD, & 11.3 & 11.4 are SD. I usually find on WTTW, that 11.3 usually looks the worst, since it seems that they allocate the least amount of bandwidth for 11.3 (Create during the day, & World at night, & World is new to Chicago).

For LPTV stations, WPVN-CD has the worst picture for SD. They not only have a lot of subchannels, but it seems as if they're not using state of the art equipment either. Even their own programming that they produce themselves on the Polvision network looks horrible.
