Which station is Better KIIS Or KPWR FM

This question, to me at least, is like asking which political party is better.. Republicans or Democrats? Can't wait til next Wednesday when we will not be subjected to any more political ads on the radio!
 
This question to me is like asking me which kidney I'd rather remove: left or right.
Then again, perhaps I'm not their target market, nor am I an insider ...

It's pretty sad when your purported "CHR/Pop station" just completely decides to ignore what is popular and miss out on back to back #1 songs... heck, the other week, of the top 11 CHR/Pop songs, KIIS was playing only 5 of them!!! If they really wanted a bigger audience they would be what they claim to be :A HIT MUSIC STATION... right now, they are not that... The market lead and a 20% larger audience is there for the taking. Maybe now that Clear Channel is no longer running the show, perhaps they can get some analysts that know that the 18-34 females don't really spend a heck of a lot of cash!!!

As for Power 106... never have liked them, never will until they flip to some tolerable format...
 
KIIS started blowing off it's adult audience in 1987, and so did the TONS of CHR/Pop stations nationwide which copied them.

It's no-longer a mass-appeal station, which is what the format was designed as in 1965.

It has BY FAR the largest cume in Los Angeles at nearly 2 million. They play the hits for Los Angeles and do very well at it. Why would you fool with a station with that kind of cume.

And when they did play "all the hits" - they had ratings in the low 3's... KIIS is totally on track.

Huh? What format was designed in 1965? KIIS did not exist until well into the 70's, and Top 40 went on the air first in August of 1952.

Top 40 was not designed as mass appeal. It was designed while network radio still dominated to be an alternative for local independent stations.

Top 40 got good numbers because there were fewer stations compñeting in the 50's and 60's... no FMs were yet viable, for example.
 
I was speaking of Bill Drake's beyond-legendary 93/KHJ, which went on the air in Los Angeles in May of 1965 and proceeded to not only blow KFWB and KRLA (home of Charlie O'Donnell, Casey Kasem, Johnny Hayes & Bob Eubanks among many other legends) off the dial, but totally reinvent top 40 radio by emphasizing being a MASS-APPEAL station and playing ALL of the best music from ALL genres, whcih KIIS was VERY good at in the EIGHTIES, highlighted by hitting a TEN share in the fall of 1984.

Ryan Seacrest has done wonderful things in morning drive @ KIIS; their 25-54 numbers in AM drive are MUCH better than they were when CC fired Rick Dees.

Marv is correct... KIIS is not a mass appeal station and it's VERY boring to listen to, quite frankly. They could have a lot more listeners if they wanted them, but they don't.

And to answer the original question, I'll say "neither". Right now, Star 98.7 is sounding far better than either of them.
