Which TV News Anchor Has Been With The Same Station The Longest?

Evansville, Indiana news longevity among anchors is impressive. WFIE's Mike Blake just celebrated forty years as sports anchor and now midday host. Anchor David James has been news anchor since 1974. WEHT's Brad Byrd as anchor dates back to the late seventies. WTVW's Randy Moore has thirty years starting out as sports anchor before migrating as news anchor.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Monica Kaufman (Pearson)
on WSB; she's been there since 1975 and plans to retire in
2012, giving her 37 years in Atlanta, having been hired from
WHAS Louisville.
I vaguely remember Monica being here in Louisville, but I do believe she worked with Mort Crim when he was there.

I think you're right; however, I have seen an ad from a 1975 issue of the Kentucky edition of TV Guide which shows
her anchoring on weekends.

In the designated market area of Mobile, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida, Mel Showers of WKRG-TV has been there since 1969.

Livingston Gilbert anchored at WAVE Louisville for 39 years.

Johnny Palmer @ WTWO Terre Haute 1967-1982

Mike Ahern @ WISH Indianapolis 1967 to 2004

Howard Caldwell @ WRTV Indianapolis anchored for 35 years

He's gotta be a weatherman with that name.

I heard a joke like that before during a local newscast by WKRG-TV.

Scott Richards has been at WBRC-6 (Fox since '96, ABC before that) in Birmingham since 1981. I don't think they have done a lot of promoting of his 30th anniversary with the station. Recently retired morning news anchor Bill Bolen was at Channel 6 from 1969 until 2010.

While not strictly a newscaster (Though he did sign-on newscasts for years, as well as the 7:25/8:25 local news in the "Today" Show) Tom Haley was with WNBK-4 from 1948, through the KYW/WKYC-3 years in Cleveland, finally retiring in 1997-A total of 49 years with one station.

Jack Williams of WBZ-TV, Channel 4 in Boston has been with the station since 1975 and still as strong as ever. He might not be the longest running anchor in the business, but he does deserve credit as one of Boston's longest running and best anchors in the business. A true gentleman.

Dennis Anderson joined WDIO in Duluth in 1969 as host of the newscast's "Action Line" segment, becoming the main evening news anchor in 1970 -- a position he kept up until retiring this past May.

In Seattle, Jean Enersen Started at KING-5 in 1968
And is still at KING-5

To add to this, Jean Enerson began anchoring the 11pm at KING TV in 1972. She has been anchoring the 5pm and/or 11pm ever since, and is indeed still in place today. She may be the longest currently active female anchor on the air today, if I'm not mistaken. Next year would make 40 years, but I have heard no talk of retirement.

Max Keeping, CJOH Ottawa, 1972-2010
Tony Parsons, BCTV Vancouver, 1975-2009; now anchors nightly on CBUT at 5 and flies to Victoria to anchor on CHEK at 10

Aren't we forgetting the late Hal Fishman, who was at KTLA from 1965 until his death in 2007?

And there's also:
Angela Hill--WWL since 1975
Gordon Peterson--WUSA (1969-2004, currently on WJLA)
Maria Downey--KTUU since 1985
Jim Vance--WRC since 1969
Ann Secrest--KTVF (1982-2001)
Bill Beutel--WABC (1962-68, 1970-January 1975, September 1975-2001)

So to get back to Mark's original criteria - the anchor who's been with the same station, uninterrupted, for the longest - and with all due deference to the many veterans who've been mentioned in this thread...

It still appears to me that at 45 years on the job at Rochester's channel 13 (WOKR/WHAM-TV), Don Alhart appears to hold the title, at least among those anchors still on the job. Can anyone beat that mark?

In Nashville, those who have been on the job the longest, and are still active:

WKRN, News 2: Ann Holt (news anchor) has been with them since 1976.

WSMV, channel 4: Rudy Kalis (sports director), with them since at least 1974.

WTVF, Newschannel 5: Hope Hines (sports director), with them since 1971, but said to be retiring soon. Ron Howes (chief meteorologist), with them since 1980.
