Which TV News Anchor Has Been With The Same Station The Longest?

http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/veteran...r-leaves-months-after-25th-anniversary/198644

Now Ed Littler on KSNB has left the station after 25 years of sports plus is heading to NCN-TV in Nebraska.

Ed Littler, a local sports legend in Hastings, Nebraska, who just celebrated his 25th anniversary at KSNB has left.

Littler did a Facebook live post earlier this week announcing his new assignment with News Channel Nebraska aka NCN.

“My role will be on the talent and production side and we’ll find out what else it involves into,” he said in his announcement.

There was no mention of Local 4 or why he is no longer working for the NBC affiliate.

KSNB did a tribute to Littler in October to commemorate 25 years at the station. His bio has been removed from the station’s site and so has his official Twitter page.

I'm surprised any market still has "Action News." It's very 1970s. I still remember the somewhat pompous Judd Hambrick on KTVU in the Bay Area, intoning - "...coming up on ACTION NEWS!!...at 10:00!" But KTVU dropped "Action" about 1980, for "The 10 O'clock News."

KFSN-TV in Fresno the ABC O&O out in central San Joaquin Valley still uses Action News after nearly 5 decades.

Why were you surprised to see Action News 13 on KTNV (call letters of the ABC station in Vegas)?

It's been awhile since I posted that, but IIRC, the reason was that in major markets, names for local news shows like "Action News" or "Eyewitness News" are out of fashion, and have gone generic. The last one to switch here in the Bay Area was KPIX (CBS) which changed from "Eyewitness News" about 3 years ago to "KPIX 5 News." Last time "Action" was used here was probably the 1980s on the Fox station - which has been just KTVU Channel 2 News, and lately Fox2 News forever. "Action News" makes me think of Ron Burgundy, "if it bleeds, it leads," and all that.

Others here are ABC7 News, KRON4 News, and NBC Bay Area News, so the NBC O&O here (Channel 11) doesn't even use their channel designation anymore in their branding. The same generic trend is true in New York, Chicago, LA, etc - as far as I know.

Also from Boston, at WCVB-TV, Channel 5:
-Natalie Jacobson retired in 2007 after 35 years with the station, starting as noon anchor in 1972 and soon taking over the 6pm news, eventually marrying Chet Curtis, her co-anchor (they divorced in 2000).
-Noon anchor and consumer reporter Susan Wornick has been with the station for 30 years
-Sports anchor (if that counts) Mike Lynch has been with the station for 28 years
-Stretching the subject just a tad, reporter Jack Harper has been with the station for 30 years, joining in 1981. I mention him because, during his tenure, he anchored the weekend news for a few years.
-Reporter Jorge Quiroga joined the station in 1977 (34 years). He is a reporter but, from 1974 to 1985, he produced and hosted (anchored) a Hispanic cultural affairs program on the station.
-Mary Richardson retired from WCVB in 2010. She had previously anchored the noon and weekend news and, for the last 26 years, anchored their highly respected evening newsmagazine, Chronicle.

Update: Susan Wornick retired a couple of years ago as did reporter Jack Harper. But sports anchor Mike Lynch and reporter Jorge Quiroga are still hanging in there.

Also, Jack Hynes, "the dean of Boston broadcasters", just passed away. He had a 50 year career in Boston broadcasting although not at one station but did spend 20 years at WCVB before moving on to start THE Ten O Clock News at WLVI.

Sign of the times: only *3* NBC stations, IIRC, are still on Eyewitness News: WRCB Channel 3 in Chattanooga, WTHR Channel 13 in Indianapolis, and KOB Channel 4 in Albuquerque, NM.

Way back when, quite a few were (some being KYW in Philly [still on Eyewitness News, but now as CBS3 in that area], WBZ Channel 4 in Boston [now WBZ News as the CBS O&O of that area], and even KVOA Channel 4 in Tucson [now News 4 Tucson]).

Up until the end of the last decade, KTNV's newscasts were known as "News 13: Inside Las Vegas" (or just plain "News 13"); in the same town, both KVBC/KSNV (NBC) and KLAS (CBS) took turns using the "Eyewitness News" brand during different parts of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Now, they're simply "News 3" and "8NewsNow" respectively. In Los Angeles, there's still Eyewitness News on KABC, but the other news-producing stations in town just brand themselves as "(Network/Calls) (Channel #) News". The "Action News" brand was used by KCBS in the late 80s/early-to-mid 90s, and wasn't used before or since then.

In my area(Asheville, N.C./Greenville S.C.) i'd say either Michael Cogdill on WYFF/4- he's anchored the 6 and 11 for them since Carl Clark retired. Carol Goldsmith has with 4 for a long time too; she's anchored the 6 and 11 for years too. And while he's not an anchor, but a weatherman, John Cessarich has been with 4 for many years, succeeding the late Charlie Gertz.

a lot of "Dennis Quinn" types in TV news (Google Dennis Quinn 101.9 if you're from outside NYC) :)

Couple of real long servers on ITV local news in the UK.

Bob Warman has presented the local news on ITV in the Birmingham/West Midlands area since 1979.

On the South Coast, Fred Dinneage has 'only' been on local news since 1983.
