While Their At It Try Something New At 95.3

I guess after a very bad book the horse company is going to be making some changes to WNTA 1330... They have been asking for people's thoughts as to the direction they want to see NTA go... Since I have nothing else to do today I thought I would write about a little experiment I did last week with some friends of mine that might offer the horse company an idea they should consider on Y 95.3 since their ratings are not doing much better. Last weekend I took a sample hour from B 103's welcome back weekends as well as a sample hour from the Rhythm & gold site and for two hours had the music playing in the background. while the B 103 side was playing there were a few OH WOW songs that got my friends talking, but when it came time for the rhythm & gold side to play it got people really talking and commenting on where did I find that radio station... With R&G having a much wider playlist than JO and the response I got from my friends I think R&G could have some very good traction here in Rockford... It could be a perfect combo with B 103 and the horse company could really own the all important 25-54 group... Since Y 95 has tried different forms of Rock I say if things don't look any better by the summer book Rhythm & Gold would work and do very well... What do you guys think??? Since it has been quiet here for a few days lets get things rolling again... CC

I listened to 95.3 for an hour last night and was not impressed. At this point, it sounds like just another ho-hum classic rock station, and it seems to lack focus in some areas. I hardly think that Stone Temple Pilots' "Interstate Love Song" qualifies as classic rock. Rock, yes; classic, not really.

I noticed they've added "Everything" to their positioner, calling themselves "Everything Classic Rock 95.3," which is a little unwieldy and doesn't quite sound right.

96.7 The Eagle's presentation beats 95.3 hands-down. I listened to The Eagle on Friday night and it sounded the way I think a classic rock station should sound.

Some type of Urban gold would probably be a good fit for 95.3. The only other possibility I see would be country gold, because WXXQ needs some competition. As far as WNTA, maybe they should go back to local talk 6 to 6 and since the signal is so weak at night, a music format again that would compliment the Minority programming on Saturdays.

Yes.. But stations like WLUP have thrown STP into the mix. The Eagle also plays them, iirc. In fact, the Eagle reminds me alot of WLUP, just with better ratings.

It's been there for at least 3 months. I remember running the commercials for them. They had an anonymous hand stuffing CDs into a blends... Tag line on the commercial was something like "Good for listeners, bad for kitchen appliances".

Yes... Yes they do.. Though, I don't listen to CR95.3 or the Eagle that much. (Normally on Nine-FM, Q102 or The X, if I'm listening to the radio)

Yeah.. That would be cool. It would make some people in our camp a bit happier.

I think if you heard STP, you weren't listening to 95.3. They don't play stuff that current. I know the eagle has been playing a lot of grunge era stuff lately. Doesn't sound too good mixed in with U2's Beautiful Day and Fleetwood Mac. I kinda like 95.3. They do mix it up a bit. I've heard some really cool deep cuts and even Zappa. I really don't listen that much, but given the choice, I like the deeper album cuts and I think the jocks are better imo.
