White Sox Radio Update

According to Robert Feder in the CHICAGO SUN TIMES, the Chicago White Sox have hired former major leaguer, Chris Singleton, to broadcast alongside Ed Farmer. I know Singleton played with the White Sox and most recently with Tampa Bay. He has been with several other clubs in his 6 year major league career.

What a gig for your first job in broadcasting. The Sox will broadcast on the 50,000 watt blowtorch, WSCR, 670AM.

I'm very surprised that the Sox chose this guy for the gig. As a Tampa Bay fan, I recall that he did very little on the field and had a mediocre career overall. Kind of an odd choice in my opinion, but they must have been impressed in order to hire him.

Maybe it's like when an owner hires a manager, who has a player, was below average and he turns out to be a great manager. Maybe, Singleton will have to work a little harder to develop his on-air abilities.
