WELL, not to OVER STATE THE OBVIOUS...
but, what ROGERs is currently doing "IS" THe nature of the Format!
TOP 3 complaints of "radio" by AVERAGE Listeners while driving:

-Tooo much rep. of the same tired songs.

-"Annoying" Djs..
[3]
-I don't care about(current news story)..omg, talk, talk(reason #2)
...just play some music..not reason #1, music...but
some "good stuff.."
With that said...
*And,since every one has a different list of "good stuff" and
"every avg. listener " is a critique of importance news..ie:
'on-going stories being preceived(?sp) of being "the -same current events-" and, *Average Listeners* Thinking..
omg, i can do better than this "jack-hole"..this dj is horrible..
(when the aire talent's break, not perfect, but was Tight!)..
Sooo,
why give people a reason *NOT* to listen....
Imagine for a second, you are reading this..not as the current PD @ q107;
edge 102 mix dj; board op for the mix99.9; sales shark @ chum-fm..but
a "regular" Person - who thinks...oh, "one of these days" y108 will
get into trouble for illegeally(?sp) recording alan cross of the edge 102,
and replaying it on 107.9....only reason that hasn't happened yet...
is because y108 is smart enough to aire it when no one is listening...
*That is the mentality you are dealing with *
think that,read below:
"Hey, Listener...
If you tune into 92.5 fm while in toronto..you will hear music!
No annoying DJ..just the music..and "the good stuff" that stations
"never" or "shouldn't ever" play. No talk,talk - because you
already know there was a hurricane, and are aware of the war...
we will play your music..for you! Since the stations are all
run by satelite and computers anyway, no need for a dj - although
we will take 'live' calls right before a song goes on..if you
need a reminder we are a GREAT STATION...but from a REAL PERSON..
just like you.. (Ok, that real person, is the news guy..recording a
few segments but remember until this paragraph is over you don't
know that..u hear a "reaL" voice you don't recongize, and KNOW
that is a real person that called in ..could be..but, at least it
isnt a 'fake dj's' @ 92.5 fm..it is some one like me, a real person)..
my friends that is why they are doing it..also, cuts down
the payroll..for what peeps will yip and moan about later.
*Now, u can never rule out a format change..but, instead of
ROGERs..trying out a few DJs..and switching it up..why not,
give NO DJ - a chance ( as bad as that sounds)then, the
listener last remembers...music = 92.5 fm
[hell, i dont want to insult the listener, any more ]but..the
big-ID voice guy..ask ten people know nothing about radio..
ask them...as you listen to the top-of-hour ID,..and ask them:
"How did that DJ sound?"
Remember, People dont care..about what is 'behind' the dial-
all that want is "the good stuff" coming out of the speaker,
in the least "annoying" way possible..
