Does anyone know if they are running at 5 kw daytime? Years ago when it was EUP, it would boom in here in Cullman, but now there is no trace of it. During the winter months I could hear spanish on 1600, I think from Atlanta. Thanks.

I am not sure what they are running, but I'd guess no more than 1kw. They have an ok signal in Huntsville, but are barely audible once one gets as far as Decatur.

WEUP 1600 AM was given a 1700 AM spot with 10 kw day and 1 kw night in the expanded band. They qualified because of increased interference to 1600 AM. They were supposed to give up their old frequency, but somehow they found a loophole and got to keep their old 1600 spot. I suspect it's their ground system, the current owner sold some of it's land to an adjacent car dealership that clearly chopped up their ground system. Their 10 kw signal is being diplexed from the same tower used by 1600 AM and it is not a good signal at all.
