WHIZ Media Group sold

While I know "It's east of Columbus" it does have impact to Columbus since WHIZ Media Group owned the license of 102.5 which is currently LMA'ed to Radio One.

WHIZ Media Group has been sold https://radioinsight.com/headlines/224106/marquee-broadcasting-acquires-whiz-media-group/

Salisbury MD based Marquee Broadcasting has purchased WHIZ Media Group pending FCC approval which ends decades of local ownership by the Littick family in Zanesville. WHIZ Media Group consists of Eastern Ohio's WHIZ TV (NBC affiliate), a CHR formatted station "Z92.7" WHIZ-FM, Country formatted "Highway103.7" and "full service/talk" AM 1240 WHIZ-AM/102.3 Translator.

They are also the license owner of WWLG 102.5 servicing the Columbus area which is currently leased (LMA) to Radio One running a Spanish language format.

Curious to see what changes come into effect. That brand is deeply intertwined with the Zanesville market, especially the TV station.
I can't receive it here in Pickerington, certainly not with a basic antenna and perhaps not even with the best outfit I could rig around my condo, but my parents in Thornville do get WHIZ and my mom in particular watches their news frequently for news out in their area Columbus stations do not cover.
Their radio stations, at least the AM and Z92, are local a good deal of the time. Their commitment to that area always has been impressive.

I was listening to a sample hour of WHIZ 1240 with @Sammi Brie yesterday and I was struck by how no playlist exists at the station. Music is pretty much incidental to local news and local advertising and spanned from 1958 to 2001. (By contrast, Z92 and Highway 103 have well-defined formats, even for such a small market.) Since the morning program is total full-service rooted in 1950s-era radio, those selections are almost ambient segues to the local content… as a jockless program block it’s oddly compelling.

The hour in question was during the jockless early afternoon block formerly held by Rush Limbaugh; WHIZ didn’t take any of the syndicated replacements made available to Rush affiliates over the past summer after his death and might have been the only station to outright defer from talk altogether.

Yes, they have a long morning show from 6-noon, then rely on whatever satellite feed they take for music until Dave Ramsey at 3. That's been their schedule ever since I can remember. I wasn't all that surprised they didn't pick up one of Rush's successors ... guessing that was financially driven.
The AM finally started streaming maybe a year or two ago, and even then it's only part of the time, mostly mornings and during live local sporting events.
