Kathleen Greg, Prov. Journal investigative reporter wrote a very revealing story on R.I. talk radio.
Interesting about the story was , it centered around 920 WHJJ and the Helen Glover show. Interesting because, WPRO had been getting fan fare about Vincent Buddy Cianci. This story didn't even mention him.
Didn't mention Yorke, Allen . Just barely mentioned Depetro. The story focused around the Governor being a great friend to radio. Thats not why I'm writing this . I'm writing it because the story was a huge boost for WHJJ. No doubt the station gets energized by it.
Question is, will WHJJ do something to leap frog from it, LIKE MORE LOCAL TALK? Nows the time MR Corwin, Nows the time.
Also, notice how WPRO hosts have not mentioned the story once.

Really?

"A recent Monday placed him on WPRO’s Dan Yorke Show, Tuesday on WPRO’s John DePetro Show, Wednesday on Glover’s show, and Thursday of that same October week on WNRI in Woonsocket, according to Carcieri spokeswoman Barbara Trainor. Then he began the cycle again, adding to his lineup former Providence Mayor Vincent A. “Buddy” Cianci Jr., who joined WPRO’s talk team after completing his prison sentence for corruption. On WPRO alone, he has appeared 15 times, for a total of seven hours and five minutes since Oct. 1. "

and

"Talk radio also provides Carcieri a platform to complain about The Providence Journal and “the controversy that they are constantly trying to fuel and inflame.” Talk radio has reach. In any 15-minute stretch last summer, WHJJ drew an estimated 1,900 listeners, and WPRO, 10,200, according to Arbitron Inc., a media research company that tracks the radio listening audience.

But over the course of a week, WHJJ, which has only two hours of local programming, reached a potential 61,800 listeners, and WPRO-AM, 157,100 listeners. "

Forgive me, 'mentioned' was the wrong word. I should have wrote, the story 'centered' around Helen Glovers show.
sorry.

Matt Allen is talking about the story. In his 6 o'clock hour.

Matt is going after Whjj and Helen Glover. This reminds me of John Depetro and his attacks
on Dan Yorke, when John was on Whjj.I think Matt's been hanging around his new friend
Depetro too long.

I have never ever heard Mrs. Glover go after anyone at Wpro and I don't like this kind of radio.

It happens. This person says that about the other, that person retorts back. Its a cut throat business, fighting for listeners

Matty didn't say Helens name at all. No personal attack did I hear. Im reading over reactions here. it is funny how some say he gets his ideas from D .Y. and now their saying he gets his ideas from J.D.
The story seemed pretty fair. Perhaps the Editors of the Pro Jo will read it, consider it, and learn from it.

??????....THEY PRINTED IT!

Yeah, they printed it. They have been printing , slanted , story after story on the topic.
It took a seasoned reporter like Cathy Greg to write the balanced story.
The whole purpose of the story was the Governor going to talk radio to get BALANCE.
In the last two years, Kerr, Zinner, Jordan, and Basyk both reporters and columists
have been merciless to the Governor and Talk Radio.
92, do you actually live in R.I. and read the Journal?

WC...do you realize that Cathy Greg just can't write what she wants and with all of the columns being written by the above named reporters have to be approved by the editors or else they don't see the light of day.

Not True! I spoke to one of the Journal Editors . 277 7303. I was told Miss Greg has a RIGHT
to write anything she feels the need to or is asssigned.
It was also pointed out to me by a Reporter friend of mine at the Journal a Tony Liocie used to be a
head columist at the Pro Jo. He wrote a story thar DIRECTLY attacked his own paper and was demoted
but not fired. 92 , you're simply wrong about the Providence Journal. The paper is not Nazi Germany.
