WHJX 105.7 in Jax

Automated 80's tracks, no jocks. What's the story here, anyone, anyone, Bueller.............?

Andy Johnson finally realized the market for progressive talk radio wasn't here I'm guessing and moving the station from 105.3 to 105.7 made the signal worse (for me at least) which might've turned off a few more listeners.

His website for the station doesn't mention why he's off the air again (unless he kept the 3 hour block between 3 to 6 pm running like he did during December to March).

According to their facebook page (radiofree jax) on 3/31, "The on-air computer crashed and we are waiting on its replacement." And their last update on 4/5, "We may be down a little longer - we took some lightning damage from the storms this morning."

I could swear 105.3 and 105.7 don't run at full power when the 80's filler has been on I listened to Groovin' Oldies and Mix 105 back in the day, and the 105.3 signal was just fine on the Southside. 105.7 is flat out unlistenable around here, even though its estimated coverage map on a certain radio station locator site isn't that much different from WJXR--which sounds halfway decent all over town.

Sometimes brokered time hosts run into cash flow problems in a pay-to-play world. Some stations will not tolerate accounts being in arrears and have a short fuse on the subject. I don't know if this could be the fact in this particular case. Wish Andy well, he's been on virtually every signal, or so it would seem in this town... I'm sure he'll resurface somewhere before too long.

And speaking of brokered time hosts we all have heard of in Duval County... I thought a while back I heard Greg Larson on a St. Augustine AM station... maybe 1420?

Larsen is on weekdays noon-2 PM pm on 1420 WAOC and has been for several years
