WHK 85th Anniversary Program: media and memorabilia

I've been hired by the current management of WHK to produce a tribute program for their 85th Anniversary in early March. I'm looking to find as many personalities - both local and national - and as much media and memorabilia as I can, in order to pay proper tribute to the station's history.

I'm looking for any help I can get. I don't want to leave anyone out. If you know of anyone or anything that would help, I would be grateful. You're more than welcome to give out my e-mail to anyone for this project. Maybe a friend of a friend used to record (insert former WHK programming here) and he's got it saved on his computer. Or people that might know where former staffers are located. We need them to make this project complete.

Thanks for any help you can give.

There is a whole site dedicated to WHK-1960's vintage..

You might contact Jim Davison, who is a local radio historian with a treasure-trove of stuff.

Also, Bob Conrad might be able to refer you to some folks (recent and older), as would Norman Wain (who worked there in sales in the late 50s).

Milt Maltz is still in town, and Malrite Group is based in Beachwood. He owned it for years, and Carl Hirsch, John Chaffee, and John Gorman are still here.

For the 90s, OmniAmerica's core group is still around.

And your current owners have held it twice in the last 10 years.

Johnny and Tim,

Thanks for the tips. Jim Davison e-mailed me today, so that should help a bunch. I forgot about Bob Conrad (apologies to friends and family of Bob...).

Color Channel 14 is an awesome site!
