WHK move

AM 1420 "The Answer" has moved its translator to 102.9 from the previous 102.5. I'd like to know why?
On my car radio, the signal on 102.9 is pretty weak by the time I got close to E. 40th street. If it's to serve the "heart of the City"- downtown, that's about all it really gets.

I tried tuning in on Sunday afternoon in my car in south Parma (on Pleasant Valley near State Rd.) and it was barely coming in. It makes me wonder if they really are transmitting from the WHK location in Seven Hills.

With WHK being a conservative talker, they probably figure they don't have many potention listeners in the urban core.

Speaking of WHK, it was just announced that Sebastian Gorka - whose syndicated afternoon drive show is heard on Salem stations all over the country (including WHK) - has been named to the Trump 2.0 administration as essentially the Counterterrorism Czar.

So obviously that means soon, Salem will be looking for a full time replacement.

Not saying it's gonna happen, but don't be shocked if longtime 1420 local host Bob Frantz gets the gig, as he does quite often fill in for a lot of Salem's national hosts, and wouldn't be an unfamiliar voice to the national Salem-verse.

That's fine. I'm not a big fan of Gorka, he's a bit of a blowhard. I suppose they could move Charlie Kirk into that timeslot as his show conflicts with Dennis Prager. That's assuming Prager is able to return from his injury. Or maybe they add a female talker for a little more diversity.

Frantz sounds more radio friendly. Gorka comes off as an extra unctuous greaseball. Speaking in a condescending manner as if he's trying to sell you a clapped out used Chevrolet as a cream-puff.

Frantz already has a show, 9:06 am until 11:45 am, Monday - Friday. Possibly, if they would move his show to Gorka's timeslot, it may only be 2 hours long,4-6pm, as the paid for show "Best Stocks Now" is on at 3pm. At 6pm they have another paid for show (I think). Paying big bucks for time means that the buyer wants his show on at a good time. Salem does have Mike Gallagher available.

Just an out-of-town station, or two, that barely come in.
There's WDVE out of Pittsburgh [that I used to be able to pick up] and WKDD-HD2 [W273BL] with an "Air 1" format on the tower in Akron north of the Amazon warehouse where Rolling Acres mall used to be, but that only has 74 watts but it's up high enough on the tower it might be able to be picked up that far away.

I prefer having Bob Frantz live and local. As such, he can delve into local issues. He would not be able to to do if he was national.

I like Mike Gallagher. He has a lot of energy and takes a lot of calls unlike Gorka who tends to drone on and on. A shame Gallagher is delayed to such a late timeslot.

Glad you are reporting on this station's activity, since the station has so few listeners and probably next to none who accesses this board.
