WHK off air

They don't subscribe to Nielsen in certain markets after they realized that they were wasting money paying for ratings on a station that had ratings so low that they didn't matter, or no ratings at all.

Perhaps the only reason they subscribed in Cleveland was because of WFHM, and they're waiting for the contract to expire.

Stations subscribe to each station separately. WFHM was a Christian "entertainment" station, a format that Salem seems to be handing off to EMF so that Salem can concentrate on the talk and straight religious formats and fulfill their political objectives more directly.

WHK appear in the ratings, although the numbers are a bit meager. I have never seem WHKW appear in the ratings, so apparently not very many are listening to them. I assume they subscribe to Nielson.

Salem without the debt and new funding reported a 58¢ per share profit. Proving that just about anyone without debt can make money in radio.

It's a bit more complicated, since they also reported an 8% decline in revenue.

Salem returned to profitability through a mix of cost-cutting, asset sales, and debt repayment. Last year’s net income was $16 million, compared to -$43 million in 2023.

So yes, if your cut your debt, cut costs, fire local staff, and sell a bunch of stations, you can turn a profit. Seems to me that's what everyone is doing.
