WHKC: Anything new to report?

Heard where they got the legal ID fixed to fire at :00 instead of closer to :15-:20 past.

Heard some Christmas music being sprinkled in.

Heard anything else about a possible flip date? Also, who's running the ship now that Robb has experienced his "out of this world" retirement package?

WHKC signed on the air Dec 3, 2006 according to a old radio-info.com thread. How much
longer will they be a radio juke box? At least it seems there was a lot more interest in the
80s format they had before switching to this Christian music format three months ago.
So, why couldn't they have keep the 80 format longer?? They seem to be in know hurry
to unveil the new permanent format. This station in now a disappointment to me.

I agree with that. After the months of 80s music, I was expecting something grand,
like the ending of a fireworks show. But personally, I'd much prefer the 80s music
they were stunting with. However, that is just me. I'm sure some one is in favor
of their current format. ;)

I guess we all knew that someone was going to be disappointed. Look at the posts regarding the new 106.7. Some happy... some not so much. I'm one of those who likes the CCM format HKC currently playing, but I'm not getting comfortable with it yet. Their website still says it will be updated by Wednesday. But, that was a lot of Wednesdays ago. It's still a juke box, so you know it's gotta change. You can't pay the bills just by playing a great variety. I'd guess the format is still up in the air. Gee, maybe now that there's a hole in the market, they'll switch to all TV themes!

I'm sure someone will post here saying "I KNOW what the new format is, but I can't tell you. I have a friend who's second cousin's mother is related to a guy who runs a cleaning service who's accountant said that he heard from their attorney that his brother's landscaper knows somebody who got a hold of an inner office memo that blah, blah, blah."

I guess we'll see. ???

Yes, I agree. I hope they bring the 80's stuff back. I have tuned in a few times and listened to the current CCM.
As far as the money goes, I would almost bet there was someone or a few that have put up alotta moola, to keep going this long.

My gut feeling is that the CCM is in memory of Mr. Case. I never met the guy other than a couple conversations on the phone, I could tell he had a Big Heart.

Clayman43130, your gut is correct. The current format was put in place in Robb's memory three days after his death. As far as I can tell, it is going to stay this way until those in charge decide what to do. I wonder how many River listeners have found their way to 91.5?

V.Riley, I'm optimistic that something might happen during the first part of 2008. When the direction is decided, I'm certain we will get the fireworks and big splash you are expecting.

NotMe, I'm glad your are not comfortable because something better is coming. When that something better does come, I'm certain you will be excited and anxious to support it in whatever way you can. In the meantime, be ready and we shall see together. No, I do not have the inner office memo. But, I do know that God is going to do more than we could ask or imagine.

I look forward to big things from 91.5 WHKC...hopefully this station does not become another FM frequency rebroadcasting CDR Radio or another satellite feed... (I have nothing against those services in smaller communities that could never support a Full FM) but I would love to see 91.5 totally be able to stay local and do something for the community.

I, too, wonder how many River listeners have migrated down the dial. However, I have run across some River listeners that didn't even have a clue there was another CCM station on the air here. Makes me wonder how much of a chink in The River's armor 91.5 would make with a serious run at a truly live and local (across all dayparts) CCM.

Somebody somewhere is adding new music to the rotation because I've heard songs on there that I've not heard since the flip as well as a sprinkling of Christmas music. I don't have a front office memo stating what the final product will be...but, I'm curious to see what will finally become of it.
