WHLI & Victoria Hart

There are a lot of young artists getting into the jazz standards - some very good - but most are doing covers from the Great American Songbook.

Victoria Hart has a great story (http://www.victoriahart.com/Biog.php), a great voice and is doing mostly original work in the vein of the classics. I originally turned WHLI on to her CD last year and when she came over working on a new project, WHLI was the radio station she wanted to go to (thanks to a big VH fan named Mike who emailed her manager, Lynne about the station playing her music). It turns out that her parents live in Brooklyn and can hear the station, too. She sat in with Paul Richards and Joe Satta for about two hours on Friday and came back on Tuesday with her song writer/producer Geoff Gurd to perform live in the studio.

WHLI has pictures and video of the songs on their website, www.whli.com. Click the pictures link.

I was the Mike who you mentioned. I was at WHLI on tuesday when she was on with Paul Richards and Joe Satta. Lynn and her guitarist as well as Victoria are terrific people.

I had originally E mailed Lynn to see if Victoria was playing in the NY area. One thing led to another and I was able to get Lynn to speak with Paul Richards. and a great day was born

Michael

I am Geoff, Victoria's producer - we both had a great time at WHLI both playing some of her material and being interviewed by Paul and Joe. What a pleasure to talk about music with them.

The great thing about WHLI (and similar stations) is their interest in the songs and the musical style - most UK radio stations and the press in general tend to concentrate on the peripherals (playing the "fame" game) and the music seems almost incidental to them. UK media is more interested in the artist's "image" - US media is more music-centric.

With that in mind we would love to expose Victoria to more US radio stations - whether they be AM, FM or digital. We think Victoria has an audience, if we can just find them. We recognize that it's not mainstream music and we are grateful to both of you guys for your support. If there's anyone else out there who sees her potential, or if you two know of any other radio outlets we could approach, we would really appreciate it.

Whilst in New York we talked with management companies about co-management and we are looking forward to properly breaking Victoria into the US market. So Congratulations guys, you were really in there at the beginning of this whole thing!
