WHLM-FM Translator

WHLM-FM has a new translator, apparently aimed at the Wyoming Valley. How far north it reaches, I do not know. The frequency is 100.9 MHz. The audio quality is superb. I have been told that another translator is in the works for the Hazleton area.

The site is in Folstown, PA (between Nanticoke and Nuangola), and is owned by Metrocast Communications. The translator has an ERP of 5 watts, with 2 watts out from the transmitter. They are using a Dayton Industrial Corp. receiver feeding an Armstrong FMX-30B exciter. Seems like a winning combo to my ears.

I doubt this data is current as 4M has since sold WKAB.

Color Radio,

It is amazing what 5 watts can do. The project was conceived, created and designed by Kevin Fitzgerald. He is a genius.

Joe,

Being a broadcast tech and a Ham Radio operator, I know first hand what efficient design coupled with quality engineering and equipment can do. Your translator is doing very well, and the audio is excellent. Congrats to you and KF. Looking forward to the Hazleton signal. (Hope I'm not putting the cart before the horse.)
