WHLY- Christmas Day

Gotta give AMP more credit for another oustanding job!! 2 hours of dead air on 1620 Christmas day during the mid-day. No IDs, no spots, nothin....
It's bad enough the engineer is doing the magic calls and such, but what a waste of 10000 watts.
The five years to either turn off 1620 or 1580 comes up in May of 2006, wonder which one they will turn off?

Why were you listening to WHLY at all? That programming will rot your brain and Santa won't visit you next year :) Shame on you!

I looked at the FCC channels information for South Bend and they have a CP for a new transmitter for both 1580 and 1620. So I don't think those two channels are on the way out. Maybe 1580's format will be (I SERIOUSLY HOPE). Ratings have sucked bad!
UPDATE: http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/amq?stat...&slat2=&NS=N&dlon2=&mlon2=&slon2=&EW=W&size=9

Just did a check and found out that there is no longer a CP showing for 1580--so maybe that is the indication of what is to come? Any other ideas?

The orignal idea of the expanded band was to turn off one station when you got the other. They gave you five years (it has been about 7 if you count the pre-period before the official license) to see which one you wanted to keep. The other would be shut down to help with the congestion on the AM band. Thus, if the rules haven't changed, one must bite the dust by June 06.
