WHMT 1190 Humboldt Tennessee

WHMT has been off the air in Humboldt Tennessee for sometime, the call sign went to some other station. The new call sign is to be WJPJ Am 1190 Humboldt, and at this time it is not known as to when it will be back on the air or what type programming. A friend of mine bought the station last week.

I believe that this station also at one time had a sister FM station, at 105.3, if memory serves.

I remember that as late as the late '80s, WHMT had Casey Kasem's American Top 40 on Saturday afternoons. Not great audio, of course, but at least I didn't have to get up at 6:00 a.m. to hear it on the local FM station! ::)

This station was on radiotvdeals.com about a year ago. It also showed up on Craigslist around that time. Here was the Craigslist ad:

"There is a radio tower for sale in Humboldt for $35000 that covers Jackson, TN. I am interested in buying but need 6-7 partners so we can split the cost and pay about $5000 each. If youre interested email me ASAP."

The ad said license, transmitter and transmitter site equipment, plus some studio equipment including console, EAS unit, mics, etc. was included. Real estate was not. The contact for the Craigslist ad was a Basim Muammad.
