WHN On Air Personality Reunion..

From that link, I copied...

The New York station was country for fifteen years, during which time it became the most listened to country radio station of all time.

To me, that's a shocker, considering their late arrival in a market dominated by long entrenched C/W power-houses WBAP-Dallas and KVOO-Tulsa.

Later this month WHN turned country 40 years ago and stayed in the format for fifteen years. It was the greatest Country station I ever heard with some great personalities. Ed Salamon, the PD for many of those years has written a fascinating book about WHN. It's very in depth and really explores the history of the station during its Country years and a nice overview of the station since it's sign on in 1922. Great for radio geeks and anybody who remembered WHN. It's available to download on Amazon. The title is "WHN..When New York City Went Country"..

I'm going to try to listen to that reunion. I hope the stream works.

WHN was the proverbial light in the window for me back in '74. I had returned to NY after living out west just long enough to acquire a taste for C/W. For whatever reason, today, the song I most remember hearing on WHN was Donna Fargo's You Can't Be A Beacon... For me, WHN provided a warm respite in the cold, hectic choas of suburban life. An opportunity arose for me to return to the west in less than one year, which was a blessing, but I did miss WHN.
