WHNZ Talk gone now Accion radio

I was surprised last weekend when WHNZ and WTAN were both playing CBS Radio News. I have been in Tampa Bay Area for 27 years and CBS Radio News was on WHNZ. Earlier this week I heard Spanish Language broadcast on 1250 and wasn't sure if this was permanent. For years WHNZ promoted themselves as 25000 watts and that he could be heard throughout Tampa Bay area. I liked it that WHNZ would be the rollover station when WFLA and WDAE couldn't carry a game or talk show. Good Luck to the new listeners of WHNZ Accion. I enjoyed the old 1250. Lets see if any programing that WHNZ had gets rollover to other stations that are not IHeart.

Very surprising to me as well. There must have been some need for this in their research in the area. But personally was a bit upset.

Going to miss traffic reports and weather at the top and bottom of the hour Mon thru Fri. I read that IHeart also changed to this Accion programming in Jacksonville Florida on WFXJ, which was once WJAX 930. Too bad the old WHNZ didn't show well in the ratings. I never understood why IHeart never put WHNZ English language programing on LPFM or an HD Sub Channel in Tampa Bay area. IHeart made sure they used LPFM and HD Sub Channel for Accion radio.

You are confusing LPFM and translators.

Simply put:
An LPFM is non-commercial.
A translator is a companion service to an AM or an HDx.
