Who Actually Listening to Streaming Audio?

If you do, what device: computer, phone?) do you listen often? and whats your favorite stream or station?
I like to use tunein.com and pick random stations.

I listen online. I do some production work for the station, but it is too far away to listen on the radio.

Do you have any idea how many people can tune into the website at any given time?.

I heard that this is an expensive service to provide.

for WLTJ and WRRK I can see how many are connected/listening to the stream (real time) and I can break the stats down to time spent listening, location what device they are listening on, if its a computer or phone and what device/app they are using.

and yes it can be expensive. I stream my audio in AAC+ (better sound, less bandwidth)

93.7 The Fan and 92.3 The Fan In Cleveland. 94.7 WLS fm to hear Greg Brown and 570WKBN at work to hear Mike Romigh.

I go to different station's websites and listen to their live streaming on my PC while working in my office. I also listen to various formats on I Tunes radio. Sometimes I revert to my old school listening habits and fire up a FK aircheck in my antiquated cassette deck.

I gave up listening to radio online because the software which cuts out the local commercials
and inserts the online ones is often working so poorly it wipes out major segments of the program
I am trying to listen to by blowing thru breaks, etc.

I used to listen online sometimes to hear talk shows that don't air in Pittsburgh or to time shift
some of the ones that do.

I listen on line ALL the time. I bought a Sanjean WFR20 internet radio and leave it on 24/7. Sure there are a few stations that can't get the breaks right (blame that on the service provider mostly) but there are some that got it right. Plus there are MANY stations available that are3 just on the internet alone. Regular radio offers me nothing so why bother listening?

I listen with my PC at home to XM, primarily XM-6 and XM-90.

I have a cheap data plan on my Android, so I save my megabytes for more important stuff.

I listen all day long whether I'm working at the office or home. Start with XLNC1 San Diego Classical ( which I support) & often switch to Hy Lit Radio when I want a wide range of 60s oldies - very low burnout factor. Both streams help me concentrate.

Virtually all of my listening is online now. Sometimes I switch around and listen to other stations to see what they're up to.

I also have a streaming station. It costs in the neighborhood of $107/month to keep it going. It's available on Live365, Radio Terra, TuneIn, and possibly other platforms.

I rarely listen to streaming audio on line... when I do it's usually a music service like Pandora... If I'm going to stream anything it'll probably be a video feed... I think I can count on a couple of fingers the number of times I've actually tuned in and listened to a radio station's online feed... frankly post-dereg radio bores the heck out of me so I really don't listen anymore... if I do tune in it's only for a minute or two and its only to get the weather or relevant information I need.

I agree, It's only on rare occasion that I listen to a stream just to tune in and enjoy the same 200 songs over and over, I listen because its job related
I use Pandora but even it is limited. I find myself buying cheap 8Gig USB drives and creating my own playlists. and thanks to youtube if I want to find a hard to find song I usually will get it on youtube and record the audio from there

long live vinyl :)

I use it to catch shows like Dennis Miller and Into the Blue which are not carried locally. Even been doing it while in the car for years using a Windows Mobile PDA (years before anyone heard of the ipod). Too bad the RIAA mafia killed the great online music stations that used to exist back in the day.

I listen almost all day, either on my phone if I'm in the office, or on my PC if I'm working from home. I have a diverse list, from local stuff which I can't pickup on real radio in my office, to rock stations in Uzbekistan(via the TuneIn app). I also love to listen to the BBC and ABC out of Darwin. One cool new feature TuneIn added is local police band broadcasts and Allegheny country dispatch. Interesting to hear what goes on even in a few minutes during the day.

I like tunein, its all I use for my phone and even when I'm home I'll listen on the computer, And I gave tunein permission to stream the 2 stations + HD's that I work for, they seem like nice people
I do listen to XM on my phone also, I like the upgrade they did on their software a few days ago

And this is for DB, I use Boost Mobile and my phone is the ZTE Warp. and my current monthly plan is $40.00 Unlimited
I would look into Boost's coverage map and see if your in their area and consider them as your phone provider, I been on Boost for 3 years

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, I spend much of my time in rural WV (Pocahontas, Randolph, and Tucker Counties), and Boost/Sprint is hopeless in WV, unless you're along one of the major highways.

I listen quite a bit to Christian stations/formats that arent available in Northeast Ohio, such as WKJV-1380 in Asheville, NC..(Yes, there is such a station) WHVT 90.5 in Clyde, Ohio (Fremont-Sandusky area), a locally programmed Christian station..Classic Country from a trio of small AM's in Southwest Ohio at 1090/1130/1500..They simulcast with local DJ's that know the music..I try to find stations that have a local feel to them..I also listen to Pandora and XM for country, oldies and clean standup comedy..Also Old Time Radio on XM..

Thats the only problem with Boost, they have the (hitchhiker footprint), I was in Moundsville WV yesterday.....no service
but my house is about 1 mile from I-70 so I have no problems there. I listened to Pandora all the way to work (1 hour drive) and it keeps picking these songs that I have no idea what they are...I will listen to see if I like them, I don't and I am constantly clicking the "I don't want to hear from this artist again"
