Who are the players in the market??

RUFKM? What kind of question is this?!? Are you an Insultant? Maybe we can talk about this in a breakout SWOT session.

Continuing our thread hijack down memory lane:
"Lucky 13--KHYT"
"Drive with KAIR...Everywhere!"
"155 KFIF--Hits Keep Happenin'!"
and, of course: "Color Radio, 99 KTKT!"

As you can see S McCoy, the Tucson market has no real movers or shakers. Strengths are measured and weaknesses abound. There is a lot of talent to be sure...Northwest Bobby being one of them ( and one of the few left on air if he is who I think he is ;)) but I have to point out that "The Hog" is under the same umbrella he broadcasts from so that might be less than objective. I could point out that MIX FM (KMXZ) has consistent higher ratings with KIIM, KRQ, and KCMT(spanish) contending for the top 4 positions.

Of course, I am not shaking it or moving it anymore so I could possibly be full of crap and if that is the case, please disregard my humble opinion. :D

Sorry the answers to your question came off as somewhat negative. That's just the Tucson board. Or is it bored? ::)

No, I think the topic has been beaten into submission.

So, the real question is _why_?

...and "The ECHO" was 92.1/106.3. Miss that station. They had a good thing going, then the Phil Collins, then das ende Where else were you going to hear John Hiatt around here.

Can't forget 'Get Your KIKX in '76' or 'Listen to your Lifestyle... Magic 94 KMGX' or 'For More Than A Decade... 99 KTKT'!!! There's more, but I must sleep now.

It Seems this "topic" is going in a strange direction-anyway I'll play- what about KWFM ROCKS the U of A or Mt. Lemmon or Rocks Tucson where does this site want to go with this topic-doesn't seem like it "matches" just who are the players and what is meant by who? Is it the radio stations OR the "voice-tracked" jox OR maybe many of the personalities that have graced Tucson radio airwaves over the past few decades.

When nearly every station in the market is owned by Clear Channel, Citadel, Journal or Lotus, dull radio is a certainty. Who cares who's in charge?

It's no wonder that local radio enthusiasts look back to better times before the conglomerates destroyed the competition that made the medium exciting.

Well, might not be better in terms of financially...interesting? Yes, but most importantly, it was interesting.

Same ol' on every hit of the button.
