Who covers NASCAR better? Fox or ESPN?

Who covers NASCAR better? Fox or ESPN? I like FOX better. They do more hype and more about the drivers. They talk about the rivalries. ESPN is too technical. I don't want to know everything under the hood of the car. I am also glad they got Rusty Wallace out of the booth. Dale Jarrett is very much like his dad was in the broadcast booth. What do you think?

FOX, much like it did in football, took a fairly bland product from CBS and gave it a FOX Sports attitude. They are one of the main reasons the sport took off when it did.

I wish they could carry the broadcasts all season. They used to carry up to July 4 Daytona race, but now have cut back in the new TV deal. It's a shame.

I'm not an avid NASCAR fan, but I do watch from time-to-time mainly during the first half of the season primarily because it's a FOX product. They've got a great broadcast and behind-the-scenes crew that look like they know the product and have fun broadcasting it. It's a great extention of what they've spent the previous 17 weeks doing: Football.

They give it fairly stand start times so it's not hard to know when it's on. Usually Sunday on the main FOX network...usually around 1 or 2 ET (unless it's West Coast). Sometimes it's on Saturday night, but you know about it because it's heavily promoted.

The other outlets sometimes put it on auto-pilot and basically run it if they were running (insert sport here). It's also harder to find. Is it on TNT...or ESPN...or ABC...or ESPN on ABC...is it on Saturday Night...or Sunday Early afternoon...or Sunday mid afternoon...or Sunday late afternoon...etc.

I thought NBC did a fine job when they had NASCAR coverage. Great looking graphics and everything. But right now I will have to go with ESPN they are doing good with getting back in the NASCAR thing.

I prefer FOX, they are the best in how the sport should be covered.

ESPN does have a proud history, but they are WAY BEHIND in this dog & pony race.

ESPN is always techincal at anything (NFL, NBA, MLB) which I guess is why a lot of people don't like there style.

FOX is about the attitude still, espically in all of their sports (Except for MLB).

I think the two should have split the whole Sprint (Winston Cup or Nextel, whatever ???) series instead of letting TNT grab 6 races.

That was merly a cash grab on their behalf ;D

Cash grab was part of it, but TNT is also involved with NASCAR because Turner Interactive has handled NASCAR.com for years, and they do a pretty good job of it. With all of NASCAR's web-advancements (namely TrackPass), it wouldn't have been worth it to strain the relationship with Time Warner by taking races off their networks.

...and on a further note about ESPN, I miss the days when Bob Jenkins was calling races. Not to take anything away from Dr. Punch, & Co.

As a former football play-by-play man, I think Mike Joy does a great job in the booth. Very steady, brings the broadcast along, knows the sport well.

I'm not a big NASCAR fan, but I will watch it on Fox. The TV production is just so much better than ESPN or NBC.

I usually enjoy ESPN and I've always thought Dr. Jerry Punch did a great job as a pit reporter and a football sideline reporter. But, I just don't care for him as the primary NASCAR announcer in the booth. Something about his presentation and voice just doesn't work there.
