Who do we call to 'TWEAK' 96Rock?

I just cant sit by and listen to 'ebn without the Pink Floyd, Sabbath, AC/DC, Clapton, Zeppelin, Doors or Foghat. So far, 96Rock is nothing but somewhat of an 'ebn after 7:00pm clone.

Who do we call????? 96Rock needs to cater to the Booze & Broads crowd. The 25-55 people that actually have a steady paycheck to buy the advertised products (bars, strip clubs, adult stores, car dealerships ((not just kia or hyundai)), electronics ((music equipment and Best Buy stuff)), concert tickets). The tweenies, late teens and early twenty's are lucky to work a job steady for 3 months just for dope and gas money!

96Rock wants to impress me, play Black Label Society, Irom Maiden, Anthrax, more Killswitch Engage! Please stop playing whiney Pearl Jam, Nirvana & (for what ever reason ONLY Cincy like them) Seven Mary Three.

Enough of me being whiney!
Just my two cents!

Unless you're in Atlanta, no one there will listen to you

Every single Cincinnati radio station that's tried an all-current rock format, or even a current/plus the past 15-years rock format, has failed in Cincinnati, even when Jacor/Clear Channel did it. The audience was simply never big enough to attract enough advertisers.

The difference this time is that the new 96Rock may not define "success" as being profitable on its own. If it is able to drain away enough of WEBN's younger ratings to lower EBN's overall standing and thereby raise Cumulus' overall rank, that's success in today's world. A losing format can have value in a way that it couldn't 15 years ago. So it doesn't have to be "good" or polished or well-focused., because it doesn't exist to satisfy an audience ... it exists to dissatisfy WEBN's younger ratings and 12+ ranking.

And we wonder why the younger demos are fleeing radio altogether...

YES!!!!!! That's how the Power Pig took away some ratings about 15 years ago... Then CC created the Power Pig and the rest was history!

Randy created the "Power Pig" (WFLZ/Tampa) under Jacor. Got it's name b/c the power was so much that a staffer was overheard by Randy referring to the station as a "power pig". I believe that staffer was Jeff Laurence, now a national vo talent.

I meant Z-Rock

Thanks for the replies.

I used to work in radio. I left the business in 1993 for the Ford gig. I worked for (help me with the spelling) Reems Entertainment. 96.5 WZRQ but then Q102\WKRQ objected to the calls because they believed people would get them confused. Then WZRZ was born. It was ABC Sattelite Music Network's Z-Rock format. We flipped 'the Beaver 96 and a half' to the ABC/SMN Z-Rock Network because of the popularity of the Poison, Whitesnake, Great White, Ozzy Osbourne, KISS & Metallica (pre-black albumn). ABC/SMN didnt charge Reems for 1 year of full programing as we were a Test station on the FM dial. Most Z-Rock stations were AM. 103.1 WRZR in Columbus was another test station. We was given all kinds of promotional stuff and lots and lots of free concert tickets. Some of the promotional stuff never made it out of the building. We got Annie's & Never on Sunday's on board as major sponsors and who could forget 'The Super Shops, chrome and perfomance parts place just north of burkhardt in Dayton'. Also, for those who remember, The Hurricane Surf Club & (the name escape me, the bar with the pink cadillac) on Pete Rose Way to occasionally sponsor. We promoted in Dayton & Cincy. 'EBN noticed big time. Then, out of the blue, some alt/dance station on 107.1 quickly flipped to Hard Rock, calling themselves 'the Power Pig' CHESTER! I was then offered a job at Ford and left the radio biz....

Several others left too, leaving only an engineer and some college kids to run the place. Now NO money was being made and the flip to 'The River' came on a calm June Sunday morning in 1993. Z-Rock was dead in Cincy. I dont regret leaving the radio biz for my current job. At the time, $6.50hr vs $15.85hr. What would you have taken?

Fordworker listening at work,
So, you got to work with Bashin' Brian Rhodes up in 'the house on the hill'? If I'm not mistaken, Reams had to wait 5 years after buying 96.5 from Jacor before they could flip it back to rock. 5 years almost to the day, it became Z-Rock, playing all Led Zeppelin tunes for about a week or so before the Z-Rock format started. Brian's a good guy. I went to high school with him and we were both doing overnights just outta school, Brian at the original 96 Rock, me at 97-X. Last I heard, he's in Chicago with a pretty decent gig. I remember that he was thrilled to be back at the New London Rd. site to get Z-Rock on it's feet.
