WHO HAD 12/18 IN THE WAZY PD POOL?

A

Arthur has posted an ad on All Access. WAZY is looking for a PD. How long did the guy from KY last?

Too bad since WAZY sounds better than ever, but.....Good for him! I figured there was no way he would stay after the GM walked last week. Let me dig and see what I can unbury.

Geez, if this is true, then it's really too bad because the station was sounding GREAT!!! In my opinion, Dan did an excellent job at tweaking the format to include a much more broad variety of pop music. I would love it if someone could compile a WAZY employee timeline just to see how rediculous things have been the past 5/6 years. I would say they've averaged about 2 PD's a year, at least.

WAZY was nothing but a temporary stepping stone for Dan. I heard through the grapevine that he is taking a VP position with a cluster in OH. Not a bad jump in my opinion.

i heard the same thing that the gm left and dan was taking a vp position in ohio. good move for dan, he really made wazy sound its best in years. i heard torn by natalie imbruglia and other good songs i remember. wazy sounds great. maybe clark will cross the hall

Things probably could have gotten very interesting in Lafayette if Dan were to stay. A few friends at Schurz say there is descent among the ranks and a few "names" were pondering a jump to AMP. The only thing holding them back was the idea of having Art as their boss. With Rick and Dan as an Art umbrella, it might not have been a bad jump for these individuals. Now with both of them gone, don't expect to see any of the moves from McCarty to South 18th street.

wazy timeline
august 06 to current dan
august 05 to august 06 dana
august 04 to august 05 dave

august 03 to may 04 casey

june 02 to may 03 beau
june 01 to june 02 jj
stephanie fills gaps

i think this is right

best luck dan in ohio

Descent at Schurz?

You cant make a statement like that and not back it up with facts.....and names..and circumstances...

Oh Puhleaze! How many alias's do you have artie? Littleoleme and now this one..the only other time you have shown up was to discuss Disney Radio. Anyone who has ever been in this town knows that AMPs pd list is pretty close to accurate. AMP hires and fires more people in a month than most do in a year. As for Shurz people coming across the street..that would be suicide and a lie. The worst day there is the best at Artistic. Shame shame shame on you at corporate for running a good thing in the ground. It wont get any better anytime soon.

Good Luck Mr Baisden! I hear you are going to work for a real radio group.

I assume that was directed at me. I can't give any names, nor would I want to. Let's just say there were at least 2 from K105, 1 from B1029 and 1 from KHY eyeballing Steph's old position. I was not told their reasons for wanting to switch to AMP, just that it was a major possibility. Only AMP management know if they actually applied for the position.
It could be a possibility that these people would also try for Dan's vacant position. I guess things could still get interesting.

Even not having specific names in front of me, I'm going to guess all of those Schurz folks you are alluding to were looking for a full-time gig AMP and not continuing a parttime gig at Schurz?

Who doesn't tolerate a less-than-perfect ownership/management position to get more money elsewhere?

::)

So part-timers would consider going to AMP or full-time employment....oooooohhhhhhhhoooohhhhh Thats crazy talk now!!!!!!! People wanting a fulltime job???? Thats not people leaving a bad situation, its people wanting a full-time paycheck. You need to get a clue and quit trying to stir things up. Here's a scoop: "Part-time Minor League baseball player is considering leaving situation or starting position with the Yankees!!!!!" Ooooooohhhhhhh!!!!! They must not like their current owner..... What a crock.

Johnson that's crazy.............the Yankees don't have pitching

I too wish Dan the best of luck in his future endeavors. WAZY was just a stepping stone... and now he's moving on to bigger and better things. I just hope that those left over there on South 18th Street get a chance to jump on a life boat before the ol' WAZY ship sinks.

Best of luck again to Dan. Lafayette will miss him!

It's natural for a part-timer anywhere to look at a full-time gig elsewhere.

However, it's not safe to assume that ALL part-timers are looking for that kind of move.

Nor is it safe to assume that only the part-timers are looking to cross the street.

Absolutely NO ONE in Lafayette is the Yankees...not AMP, not Schurz, not anybody. The better anaolgy would have been a bench player on the Reds vying for a starting spot on the Brewers -- two moderately successful, but by no means championship-caliber, small-market teams. Lafayette is not a "destination" market for anyone that isn't from the area or has family there. Most media pros in Lafayette are on their way to or from somewhere else.

**

"Dissent" = to differ in opinion from the majority or management.

"Descent" = movement from high to low, particularly on a "family tree" with regard to ancestry.

...but credit is given for effort, particularly for not using "decent" by mistake.

Yikes! Where to start?

"not like their current owner", Johnson? Am I owned by someone? Am I a cocker spaniel?
I might run my own ice cream truck or have my own paper route and not work for an owner. Don't assume anything on here about anyone.
The whole "outing" someone trend on this site disgusts me anyway. Give it up. The "I know who you are and what station you work for" idiocy is overrated and misguided. It's like playing "who farted?" in 4th grade or something.
Grow up.

But good point, ND. Not everyone is looking to move from parttime in Lafayette to full-time, but there are folks who want to stay in town versus going elsewhere, so they'll sacrifice "the big move" to have a fulltime gig in Lafayette and that suits them just fine. Not everybody can be the next Howard Stern.
As you said, if you're from the area or you're raising a family here, you can stay on "the Brewers" and be content with the gig for a loooong time like a few of the jocks have. Absolutely.

However, the "media pros" you speak of are usually in newspaper and television. Most of the radio folks are just making it a glorified hobby until they don't do it anymore and then do something else in Lafayette. What's Stephanie Patterson on the way to, being Rick Dees' sidekick? I need a head count of all the folks who moved on from Lafayette to the "big time".
"Stepping stone" should not be confused with "I couldn't cut it in Lafayette either". Is Dan going to be that proud of his few weeks at AMP? Is that going to be a gold star on his resume? I doubt it.

You forgot "Dasani"=make your mouth water. ;D

Not sure who the idiot is who's trying to stir stuff up, but let's set the record straight on who was wanting to jump from the best opertation in the Lafayette (Schurz) to the worst (AMP) for whatever reason from a former employee's point of view.

To my knowledge, and let's break this down, there was only ONE person from the Schurz Company wanting to jump. I'm sure there were a few people having quick thoughts about it once the announcement of Steph leaving was made because it would have been exciting to ponder, but only ONE applied. Everybody else would've come to thier senses after realizing the insanity of such of move.

Nobody from 'KHY was looking to jump and if there was it would have had to be either Ashlee or Ken, I suspect. The two dominant figures at 'KHY (Jeff Strange and Harv) are way too content to consider such a move and their weekend guy, Morrison, has no interest in going full-time anywhere in the Lafayette market.

Two people from K-105? I don't think so. Annie has a family to consider and is also under contract so she CAN'T make a move like that. Mark? Eh-eh. He's not going to give up being the OM over everybody to go work at a questionable outfit like AMP. Brian Summers? Maybe, but I doubt it. He's getting too much in way of opportunity where he is and the rest of the fulltimers are content too. The weekend guys, Chuck and Ben, are leaving radio altogether.

B-102.9. Tony's not putting in for the job, because he has it too good where he is. Marci? Again, I don't think so. Tony's talked her into believing that somehow she'll finally make it to television or some celebrity show by doing a crappy morning show with him. Besides, she knows she's got it made working for Tony because Tony 'likes' her and AMP fired her before way back..remember? Their weekend staff? Brian or Kim? Brian's going to college at IU so it wouldn't be him. Kim? Maybe, but I doubt it. Logan....hmm. Let's do the math....Scotty used to work at Radio Now 93.1 in Indy...so did Logan...both are very good friends...hmm...both would LOVE to work together. You size it up. As far as I know there was only ONE who actually applied for th position. You guess who it was.

Thanks Bill, but I don't think of myself as a "name" from Schurz though! But who knows what people consider "names" nowadays.

I'm not trying to be snide here:

Bill, do you WORK at Schurz?

I'm not sure there's much legitimacy to what anybody says when the words "former employee" pop up in the post.

If you were not working at Caterpillar anymore or SIA, wouldn't it just be gossip you're getting second-hand if you were working at Lafayette Venetian Blind?

As I said, not trying to be a ******, but if you're not there, it's just gossip.

:-\

I won't try to be snide either, Unplugged, but I don't jump all over your posts, so please don't jump all over mine. Besides, if you KNEW the folks at Schurz as I DO and regardless of continuing to work there or NOT am still friends with a majority of them as you tend to be with people you worked alongside for years, and I know them and it is certainly not secondhand material. Maybe the question should be do YOU work there or have you EVER worked there Unplugged? Did I mention something in my list of employees that maybe offended you, possibly? Were YOU on the list of people I mentioned? Take a chill pill, please. This board is open to everybody's thoughts, of course, but I don't like reading unsubstantiated inuednos about friends of mine who are being hinted at that are very loyal emloyees of Schurz 'jumping ship'.
