_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Stupidginny I mean Kelly, Your right I did learn something out of it I have learned that if I ever do get back into radio instead of public relations that to at least get a map out know the area and know how to pronounce towns fluently before making my self and the station I work for look stupid. For example Clio is not pronunced Cle'o on the air. Also It's pretty sad when you have to have a listener tell you live on the air where the press conference is going to be and how to get to the service center.But yet all of a sudden you claim Enterprise is "your city" and you don't even know where things are in Enterprise? Come on KMX abaonded Enterprise a few years back and Enterprise only has one station now in it and that is WVVL (which sounds great by the way) .
You say you didn't hear any miss info on KMX that day? Well you must have not been listening hard enough having listeners call in the information was full of "Miss info" I know for a fact one of the mis-leading things that was said on KMX is that there was 20 dead 150 injured which we all know was wrong but the KMX crew decided to air that and it did what ? Cause panic and speculation.
After the storm hit that afternoon I bounced back and fourth between DJR and WOOF they had great coverage I never once heard either one of them say that they were did people at the school because they knew it was not right to air such a thing like that at that time because there might be parents listening.
I was very impressed with WOOF they had a news person there that afternoon shortly after it had hit reporting the facts not the speculation then by that evening they had a 2nd news person in Enterprise with John Daniels back at the station covering everything flawless. DJR also got the information out there and got it right.
DJR and WOOF are not being Cowards and not doing nothing as you put it. They have chosen to take the professional route and do thier work for Enterprise quietly by not saying on the air oh look at us we are raising money and we are the official station for the Disaster recovery efforts. Another example Make your donations to the WKMX/Reagions Bank Disaster recovery fund. Which is for what reason class? SELF GLORIFICATION I can just about bet that when the $ 100,000 is raised through your fund that you are talking about you will be making a promo that will run every 30 mins saying KMX / Regions Bank raised over $100,00 to help for the disaster recovery efforts in Enterprise etc. etc.
I have yet to hear DJR Or WOOF set up a fund at a bank for that all they have been telling thier listeners to do is make the checks to the red cross or the City of Enterprise disaster relief fund. There again they took the classy approach to it by not attaching thier name to any of it.
Not all Sales People would try to come up with something to make money off of information that should be passed on to your listeners for free! It's just your stations that are doing that which is wrong and heartless.
We can see in this market according to the numbers who knows how to do real radio and it's not TVY and KMX. When KMX gets thier numbers above a 7.8 overall and up to the 14+ and above that DJR and WOOF has then you can say you know how to do real radio.
You would have thought that you would have learned that the "Look At Me" Look at Me" approach that Amie Pollard took during the fall book just doesn't work. But yet you and her still think it does for some reason ? Now go pull the numbers out again and look at what works.
