But that's only because their management is so abysmal and inept that they would unwittingly send their people into harm's way. If one were to become maimed, or even killed, Meredith would simply say that this is all part of the high cost of operating in a competitive news market.
The place is a mess. It's a revolving door. Did you see this:
https://www.nlrb.gov/case/10-CA-033090
They go from lawsuit to lawsuit. Their corporate lawyers stay busy. I remember an Anchor and a CE WALKING OUT from the nightmare on 14th street.
And a news photog committed suicide.
Its a nasty station in a nasty section of town. Its in the Home Park section of Atlanta. But it should be called Homeless Park.
Watch where you step!
Nightmare on x street? That’s a name suitable for a haunted house. CBS46’s studios are not considered a haunted house. Months ago when WTZA was the Talk of Atlanta, Larry W-A-C-H-S went on to accuse CBS46 of not getting anything right. That’s not entirely true. Oh sure, you may hear mispronunciations of words every now & then along with typos on the banners, crawls, & social media pages, but PLEASE just give them a break. If they get something wrong, it’s up to we the viewers to correct them on it either via social media or via email. I’ve had to correct Rick Folbaum on a couple of things via Facebook and he appreciated me correcting him. I had to correct Carolyn Ryan on something recently via Parler. She appreciated me correcting her but unfortunately, the damage had already been done because when you post something on Parler, if it has a typo in it, they won’t let you correct the post. I’m believing the folks at Parler will change that policy sometime down the road. They can’t keep the policy that way forever. Do I correct CBS46 on everything they get wrong? No, of course not. I don’t have time to watch them like a hawk just waiting for them to get something wrong. I trust them to get things right most of the time.
Where the PinPoint Weather Team is concerned, they are certified the most accurate in Atlanta. In speaking of the PinPoint Weather Team, I saw on one of Bobeth Yates’ Instagram pages that she has a link to a petition she wants viewers to sign to get CBS46 to promote her to a permanent meteorologist. If successful, she would most likely be on in weekend mornings resulting in Alexandra Steele going back to TWC (The Weather Channel) making her contributor role a full time role. The reason why Alexandra is not on the CBS46 payroll permanently is because when she’s not doing the weather weekend mornings on CBS46, she is a part time TWC contributor. Does Bobeth have a chance? Or should she not bother holding her breath? When I used to be on Twitter, I remember seeing a pic of Bobeth on her Twitter page with her standing in front of the green screen showing a live shot of the Georgia Dome in the background when it was still built. When the pic was taken, it was taken on either a holiday or a weekend. She was coming in to do fill-in work for the weather at the time. Ever since that day, she’s only been called to come in to fill in for the traffic reports. When Jennifer Valdez permanently took Paul Ossmann’s place in May 2019 as chief meteorologist, Rodney Harris took over as then interim morning meteorologist. Julie Smith was still doing the morning traffic reports at the time. The next month in June 2019, Julie decided she wanted to leave CBS46 because she felt it was time for her to move on. That’s the same reason why Sharon Reed left. After Julie left, Bobeth came in to become then interim morning traffic reporter. Prior to 2018, former reporter Natalie Rubino launched the Fighting For Our Veterans segment where she got involved in soldiers getting in trouble in some things (e.g. Veterans Affairs). It was up to her to help the soldiers get out of trouble. After Natalie left in 2018 and moved to Boston, MA, Bobeth Yates and Melissa Stern started alternating Fighting For Our Veterans stories. Alternating Fighting For Our Veterans stories wasn’t easy at the time. When Fred Campagna joined the CBS46 PinPoint Weather Team in either October 2019 or November 2019, Rodney was able to switch to being interim morning traffic reporter resulting in Bobeth being able to do Fighting For Our Veterans stories full time. If CBS46 does promote Bobeth to permanent weekend morning meteorologist, the Fighting For Our Veterans segment would be discontinued unless they can find someone to take Bobeth’s place in that area. Melissa Stern can’t cover any Fighting For Our Veterans stories right now because she has breast cancer and she’s been undergoing treatment for it. PLEASE keep Melissa in your thoughts & prayers and pray that she is 100% delivered from breast cancer.
CBS46 is NOT a “nasty” station. The location the studios are in is NOT in a “nasty” section of town. If you want to know where the real nasty sections of Atlanta are, they are on the South & West sides of Atlanta.

I have family members both deceased & still living that used to live 3 streets east of Mecaslin St. long before CBS46 moved there. The grandparents on my dad’s side of the family lived on Francis St. for years. The house they lived in, my still living dad & my late aunt (both fraternal twins) grew up in that house. My then living grandfather (my dad’s father) worked for Atlantic Steel for years. Then he retired. My then living grandmother (my dad’s mother) worked for Coca-Cola Enterprises for years. When my late aunt was alive taking care of my grandparents on my dad’s side of the family, she worked multiple jobs. She spent time working for Coca-Cola Enterprises. She also worked for the Wachovia bank Georgia Tech campus location long before Wells Fargo came around. Wells Fargo didn’t come around until long after she died. She was also a veterinarian. After my dad graduated from high school in the 1970s, he married my still living mother and they moved OTP (Outside The Perimeter). In January 1998, my grandparents on my dad’s side of the family along with my late aunt decided that they wanted to move OTP, so they moved to Dallas, GA (Paulding County) to live out the rest of their lives. My then living grandmother (my dad’s mother) died in 2004. My then living grandfather (my dad’s father) died in 2005. And then my late aunt committed suicide in February 2006. It was the weekend of my birthday that year and it was during my senior year of high school. Today, my dad works for the AFCEMA (Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency). He, my mother, & myself live in Acworth off of Wade Green Rd. in SouthWest Cherokee County, GA between I-75 & Hwy. 92/West Alabama Rd. My mother’s cousin grew up living on Mecaslin St. Then he moved OTP to Stockbridge. I don’t know if he still lives in Stockbridge. The streets of Mecaslin St., State St., Atlantic Dr., Francis St., Holly St., Barnes St., Fowler St., Laurent St., 15th St., & 16th St. were all considered a part of Home Park (north) when Atlantic Steel existed. When Atlantic Station got built, Home Park (north) got re-zoned into being part of Atlantic Station. Now, Home Park is confined to being surrounded by 14th St. to the north, Northside Dr. & Hemphill Ave. to the west, 10th St. to the south, and Techwood Dr. to the east. When Jennifer Valdez was on medical leave recovering from her back surgery, she was doing a Facebook Live event one day. It showed her walking up & down Moores Mill Rd. Jennifer, along with her husband & 2 children, live in one of the subdivisions off of Moores Mill Rd. west of I-75 near Peachtree Battle Ave. My mother grew up in Defoor Hills well south of Moores Mill Rd. & Peachtree Battle Ave. off of Defoors Ferry Rd. & Hills Ave. If you want to call an area Homeless Park, go to the Northside Dr./Metropolitan Pkwy. underpass underneath I-20 not far from Castleberry Hill & Atlanta University Center HBCU complex (Clark Atlanta Univ./Spelman Coll./Morehouse Coll./Morehouse School of Med.). There’s been an effort to try to crackdown on the homeless gathering underneath I-20 but I don’t know if it’s working or not.
I apologize for this being a lengthy post. What I’m saying in this post had to be said. Would you guys PLEASE stop tearing up CBS46 in your posts? They’re doing the best they can. For those of you who think that Meredith Corporation should sell CBS46 to CBS to convert the station into an O&O and have it be a sister station to CW69 WUPA-TV, I agree. I also think that if Meredith were to do that, they should give CBS46 news team employees a choice to either move to Colony Square at 14th & Peachtree under CBS ownership or stay at Meredith at 14th & Mecaslin and help them launch a news department for Peachtree TV WPCH 17. They could use the branding Peachtree 17 News for their newscasts. Since they’re not bound to broadcast network programming, they could easily make the station be like that of WJXT-TV Channel 4 The Local Station (News4Jax) based out of Jacksonville, FL. If WJXT can do it, Meredith can do it with Peachtree TV. Anyway, that is all.
