WHO IMPRESSES YOU?

Paula Street on 103.3 WODS.  She was one of the original DJs there around when the station started, and the news and traffic reporters and production at 1030 WBZ.  I was always impressed by the news production at WBZ and also the area the traffic reports covered, not just Boston but sometimes southern NH and ME, western and southeastern MA and the Cape, and sometimes even RI depending on the traffic situation.  But locally in the Providence market, Dan Yorke on 630 WPRO.  His show is often entertaining and informative.  WBZ has always sounded more impressive to me in its news presentation than WPRO.  It's ironic when WPRO says they have southern New England's largest news team, when in reality, WPRO's news team is probably not even half the size of WBZ's.  Makes me laugh when stations try to sound much bigger than they really are.

Yeah radio is just an illusion. They do the same thing by over using the word "EXCLUSIVELY". Me thinks that someone needs to check the dictionary on the meaning of the word. But... getting back to the topic, I'm not exactly blown away by anyone I'm hearing locally. The closest would be Matt Allen. He pushes the envelope as much as a person can in that building without being fired. He's talented, he's funny and he is the only one currently broadcasting from this market who has legitamately made me laugh out loud.

Giovanni-35+ years at the same station, imaging/production genius. He's done characters on Jimmy Gray's show, been the voice of Rocky Point, done late nights, swing, middays and mornings.....and still sounds fresh and fun.

Tim Leary and the Morning Showgram. For a group that's been together less than 2 years they sound like they've worked together much longer.

I don't listen to PRO-FM, but have to include Giovanni & Kim.

Buddy for having the cojones to keep being Buddy.

Tad Lemire, who isn't on the air, but should be. With opportunities in the market dried up, I'd have to say if Citadel ever decides to free their PDs from daily airshifts, afternoon drive at Lite Rock 105 would be perfect for him. It wouldn't give him the opportunity to do as much as he did mornings at Cat Country, but Charlie Jefferds was never short on personality & Tad can bring a lot to that shift.

Tara does a solid job hosting when JD is off.

And ditto Paula Street.

and this fellow was a CONSULTANT? Thats why talk radio sucks .. Tara's voice is annoying and she is completely clueless. 790 is my station this week.

MYSTERY SOLVED!

Now we can all get back to The Democrats Bad Republicans Good Show piped-in-from-somewhere-else and continue firing the local news people, and it'll suck less, right?

Good point. I was thinking of him more in terms of the current show which I'm not crazy about. But you are right. I would laugh my ass off at him and his impressions on Jimmy Gray. I forgot about that. Heelllooooooooo. I'm Andy Cooney ;D

Yeah.... Good call. I'll throw in a vote for Giovanni as well.

And friend of Dan and Mick the Siamese twins joined together at the wallet.

Yeah.... Good call. I'll throw in a vote for Giovanni as well. ...I second that call.

Huh? I thought the whole point was to sound bigger than you were.

Of course WBZ's news team is bigger than WPRO's, compare market size! I don't consider Boston as being "southern New England", though I guess technically Mass. is in the southern half of the region.

Oh yeah.. thanks Jimmy. That's right... Randy Cooney. I've got some of those on tape. I think I posted one here a while back. If I come across more I'll let you know.

I enjoy Charles on HJY......

Jim Hummel does a real solid job.
Of all WPRO hosts, he might be the most-engaging, and is easily the friendliest and most-cheerful.
He could work in a big market tomorrow...if there were still any jobs left there...

Agree, Dan Yorke is very informative.Good interviewer.

I am bothered that bishop tobie is not releasing names of pedophile priests. The abortion issue went on and on with all talk hosts on PRo, and of course chris young on and on.

This is an important issue I feel many Catholics on the radio chose to ignore.

Names need to be brought into the spotlight. Hippocrits
