Who is 100.1 in Waterloo?

I've been picking up an unidentified station at 100.1 in Waterloo/Cedar Falls. It's a very urban format, whomever it is, and an odd one at that. Yesterday they played a looped bed for about 10 minutes at one point. I haven't been able to catch any identifiers, nor is it listed on radio-locator.com.

Does anyone know whom or what this is?

Then I guess I'll understand why, once the station is identified, either NOBODY wants to work there, or everybody does. It's definitly one, if not the other.

This was sarcasm,
I figured I better say it B4 skeezix did and start off on some wild story again.

Thanks...if you just search "Waterloo Iowa" it doesn't come up...I guess you have to use the force on that one.

KBOL is a low powered community station targeting Waterloo's African-American community. It was founded by Michael Muhammad, a local minister in the Nation of Islam.

That's what I was guessing, in terms of general management and direction. There is one established LPFM in Waterloo/Cedar Falls, that being KULT at UNI, and they show up in a generic "waterloo" area search. The database probably hasn't been updated yet is all.

KBOL-LP/100.1 has a website at http://www.kbolradio.com . They actually signed on almost a year ago, although programming didn't "officially" begin until towards the end of the year. I've heard a lot of local programming on my monthly trips through Waterloo, which unfortunately is quite rare for the new LPFM stations (most just carry a national relgious network with a local ID).

Besides KULT-LP/94.5, there's also a construction permit for KCVA-LP/96.9, owned by Cedar Valley Music Authority. Can't find anything online about that one.

It's been all run-of-the-mill pop-style hip-hop when I've tuned in, but that hasn't been often.

KCVA is the station owned by the mohair pair people (a retro shop on College Hill) and the guys that used to be House of Large Sizes. They were really active in trying to fund the thing, and I know they wanted to house it out of the shop on the hill, with a transmitter on the watertower near CF high. Not sure if any of that is proceeding, however.

Sadly, it's not. I asked Barb (one of the co-owners of the shop) about KCVA on a visit a couple of months ago, and she informed me that they hadn't been able to get the station on the air before the CP expired. Hopefully another filing window opens up soon...

From what I hear, nobody was really quite sure what they were doing with that whole project. Lots of great idea people, no execution people, if you catch my drift. It's too bad, I hope they can eventually get it together, I thought they had some solid general ideas.
