Who is Brian Fasulo??

Smedge, I want to agree with you... except for one thing.

Sean Hannity & Todd Shnitt aren't carrying on in the tradition of Lassiter, Fowler, Norman... so why bag on Fasulo? He is doing a show that I can handle listening to. I think its pitiful that he has to "keep things clean". But even as a rookie trying to play it safe, he offers way more substance than the competition.

Sometimes I wonder if Shnitt has ever considered visiting the Lassiter airchecks site, to remind himself how bad he butchers talk radio. I'm sorry man, I've heard enough about MJ's cars. I already know where he stands on the issues, he can stop reminding us every 5 minutes. In Tampa, the AM band really doesn't have anything to offer. Lack of competition has resulted in 970 being off their game. They just haven't been the same since they canned Lassiter in 99.

I hope this new competition (lame though it may be) will result in less monotonous programming on FLA.

I will say no more on the subject.

Have you pundits listened to him lately? Or do you just go back under your rock and dream you had made something of your life in radio or tv??? Granted he got out of the gate a little shaky...He has hit his stride. Funnier than Schnitt and now beginning to let us in on how smart he really is, like he was hiding it for entertainment sake. Pretty amazing after only 3-4mos....With any promotion he would be a REAL player in this market.
 
He won't get the promotion... because 1040 spent what little money they have on an ersatz news department. Rather than match their strengths to 970's weaknesses, they match their strengths to 970's strengths.

I still don't get any sense of where Fasulo stands on most things. It still sounds like he's trying too hard not to offend. With Schnitt's and 970's head start, being almost as good as or marginally better than Schnitt isn't going to change things much. WWBA needs someone who's willing to swing for the fences. But because of the owner's self-imposed limitations, they're not likely to get that someone.
 
1040's problem is their signal. It sucks, big time. Their nite signal is almost non existent since the tower fell. The day signal is non directional but less than 4,000 watts against FLA's 25,000? Size matters in this one. But I have to agree, the program content is superiour to FLA now that they have their own news and live shows in both daytime drives. I give em credit. Now if WWBA had FLA's signal, or 620's signal or 1250's signal....

I would hardly call Shayna Lance and Roger Shulman an ersatz news department. They were two of the most passionate reporters/news junkies WFLA had. And their combined IQ equals... no wait... surpasses that of the remaining news department at the once-mighty 970. And if you don't think intelligence is the leading factor in winning the radio news wars, then you don't know radio news.

Lenny's is a nice place to have breakfast. Especially their danish basket.
 
I dont know about breakfast, but I remember Lenny's as a club on US19 with a guy that played the organ all nite with a bunch of blue haired women fawning over him.

Must've been before my time. Haven't seen an organ there, but they do have witty signs on the ceiling.
 
sbe1..you're probably thinking of "Lenny Dee's KINGS INN" on Gulf Blvd in Treasure Island.."Home of the One Pound Pork Chop" Now that was a dining and entertainment oasis.

Glad Brian is working out. Sounds like Brad is doing good things there. As soon as there is a signal improvement they should be okay.

BTW...sbe1 isn't the 1040 in Pompano up to 25K now? The 1470 signal there has 50KW!! WWBA should be able to apply for a major power bump if they get the the towers moved huh?

C'mon what's 6 or 8 new towers..what could that cost?

You got that right. I don't listen to Schnitt, though he's good and better than Hannity. God, what was FLA thinkin' putting Hannity in late evenings....
Fasulo sounds great and more like the more "general interest" host of old that isn't boring.
