Who Is Doing the VO for KFRC?

Brian James...He is also the v/o guy for EXTRA. At one time, Brian was the Imaging Director for KXXX/X-100 in 1988-89. For the past decade he has been in Tampa. For awhile after X-100 he was at WFLA.

"It was Beau Weaver at launch. have they changed?"

Uh...yeah, I think that's implied pretty strongly. Beau Weaver is a MAJOR VO guy, and I have to believe he makes major $$$ up in the Don LaFontaine range. CBS probably didn't want to continue spending that kind of money. And if you think about it, Weaver's voice - great as it is - is rather generic, and doesn't have any particular association for most people with Classic Hits or KFRC (even though he jocked for the Big 610 in the 70s). In fact, if you listen to his KFRC airchecks, it's amazing how much different he sounded in 74. Bobby Ocean would have that kind of nostalgic connection for listeners, but he reportedly would rather give himself a root-canal than work for CBS again.

Besides, Brian James' work for the pre-MOViN KFRC was great...though some credit should go to the guy who wrote those announcements. 106.9 hasn't had James doing the snarky sarcastic bits he was doing at 99.7. I hope they do...some of them were very funny.

Bobby Ocean is worth what ever asks for, VO for KFRC Old and New, should include him, CBS wastes Thousands on Movin ,, and those MOST annoying spots with the Movin Dancers,, and price shops for a VO guy, Huh, they owed Bobby Ocean, This guy has more talent and experience than the "SUITS" at CBS!!! Bobby Ocean and John Mack Flanagan, are two guys who are KFRC,,,, Who ever has made VO s and intros better than Ocean,, You only have to listen to 1/2 hour of him on XM s 70s channel, and see this is the guy for KFRC!!! His 3pm (WEST COAST) top of the hour intro is one no one could immitate, to think of all the years of Cammy and Ron, wow the bay Area listeners got gyped on radio, Come off It CBS,, you guys are Loaded ....Pay the Piper,,No cutting corners, Im sure you want to Pass up the Wolf,, Bring in the right people!!! We Know Kenny...you tell us every day....(door bell) Get the door Kenny the mailman has your water wiggle you ordered from WHAM-O :D

Kenny, I think your depends are too tight or you're not taking your meds again. Ocean IS a fantastic V/O and air talent, but he doesn't want to be a part of KFRC (right now) so please get over it and as for John Mack, well there maybe some hope there. Be patient.

Brian also does KNBR 680/1050 and KDON-Monterey which has a big bleed over into the Bay Area so technically 3 Brian James stations, or officialy 2 in the market. Is there any kind of limit per market, or distance limt with VO's?

Bossjock1947, I got the precise reply I was looking for, Thanks, to you and your partner,, bcradiodj,, I will sleep quite well tonite,,,,,,,,,,,,,, More tommorow!!! 1,000,000 thanks,, Kenny in Concord

As Ocean doesn't want to be part of KFRC right now, JMF doesn't want to be part of radio right now. It hasn't treated him that great in recent years, and he is taking a break. I do believe he would love to get back into things in the right situation, but I don't think he would deal with the corporate politics well nor do I think he wants to. Sometimes we all just need a break from it.

And if you remember that it was Infinity (CBS) that purchased KYA-FM, then made the switch to country, in which John Mack was relegated to weekends on KYCY, I could understand if has bad feelings toward CBS. But he's had a 5 or 6 year break now, so if he is offered a gig on KFRC, I hope he considers it.

Your info is correct. And I echo your thoughts on hoping he considers it, however I am afraid to say it for fear I will start sounding like Kenny in Concord!! ;D

I think Lawrence did a decent job, also PLEASE dump that crap from Jam!
why? Its better than those one that was on kfrc pre movin

BLACKHOLE,, its real simple ,, afternoon drive = John Mack Flanagan,, do you remember how terrible afternoon drive was in 1994 when we were blessed with RON AND CAMMY??? That was a terrrible time for KFRC poor choice for afternoon drive,, what was CBS thinking then, its a new era and time to get back to its roots,, ONCE again to the suits at CBS make the right choice, You threw alot of money at the Movin Format, got very little return for your money!! I would like to see KFRC come back and tromple all over The Wolf!!! Kenny in Concord
