Who is Heading to NY for K-Rock?

From inside CBS in NY....
CC Houston FM Ops guy Vince Richards is not only the front runner for the PD gig at K-Rock in NY, he is also being pursued heavily for the job.

maybe I will drop XM and listen to the Buzz again when he leaves......NAH

I heard a rumor that Kingston was a possibility. would be a good for XM if he left and went back to Krock

There are several "front runners" for the job - ask any current or former PD in the format and they'll tell you its them - on the sly, of course.

Why on earth would Vince, or any other currently employed PD for that matter, want that K-rock NY gig? So they can bang their head against a wall for a 2-share for 8-16 months til CBS flips the station AGAIN?!?!!? Relocate your family to the most expensive place in the US to live to work in a cluster with no stability whatsoever? No thanks.

For many, Programming a full stick in New York has sex appeal. High risk, but high potential reward for the winner.

K-ROCK in NY should be able to reach decent numbers if done right. Vince seems like a qualified candidate and potentially interviewing, but I think its unlikely he's being aggressively pursued as the thread suggests.

Because, New York looks better on the old resume, than Houston. It is the Number One market in the country. Even if it doesn't work out, he'll be able to go anywhere else in the country and get a gig, because of that. CBS will stick this format for awhile. It was Alternative/Rock for a long time, before their short stint with Hot Talk. The ratings will improve now that they've gone back to Music, along with Opie & Anthony. And, it's actually more expensive to live in Boston and the three larger cities in California are actually more expensive to live in than the NYC Metro area.

Word is CC would not let him talk due to contractual complications.
