I keep on hearing Beck and Savage say they are the number 3 most popular talk show. Who is right and who is wrong. Why the discrepancy?
 
if we are talking pure listeners I would think it would be Beck pretty easily. This is just due to his earlier day part that has more natural cume.
 
For what it's worth, Talkers' Magazine says....

1. Rush 15MM Weekly Cume
2. Hannity 14MM
3. Beck 10MM
4. Savage/Levin (tie) 8.5MM
 
Help me out. I thought "The Comedian" was Glenn Beck. If Glenn's the "Hemmoroid with ears", who is "The Comedian"?
I think that Savage should rename Levin "The Munchkin", as that's what he sounds like, although not all warm and fuzzy like the Munchkins in the original 1939 movie of "The Wizard of Oz". Levin is annoying, more like the depiction of The Munchkins in the "Tales of The Wizard of Oz" made-for-TV cartoons of the early 1960s.

Savage used to call Beck "The Hemmoroid with ears". I thought John Stewart may have been given the name "The Comedian" by Savage.

In a way Savage is #1 considering that Savage is not cleared in many major markets and in some markets on the weaker signal station and still gets these numbers.

no...that makes him not #1. To be number one you have to play where the big boys play on the top stations. That's like saying a Division II school should be the number one team because they win all their games. Sure...but they did so against inferior competition. Savage is a legit talk show host and has legit numbers (I am not arguing that) but I see no case for him to be #1.

My point is had Savage been syndicated by Citadel or CC and shoved down our throats in each radio market on the major signal radio station like Beck and the bore Hannity he would've gotten bigger numbers than them.
 
Savage not being cleared in LA, SF , Seattle etc. And on weak performing Salem stations in other markets still gets him 9 mill listeners a week then Limbaugh's 15 mill is bad news for Rush ...... Same with Sean and Beck.

The daypart is still working against Savage...savage could be on the #1 station in each market (typically the Rush station) and he would still not be #1.

He is cleared in SF on KSTE. I know of one owner in LA that won't touch Savage because they know that they could not sell him and that he is just a ticking time bomb...they don't trust him.

No, he's cleared in Sacramento on KSTE(/650 Rancho Cordova).

KSTE has an excellent 21 kW day signal that makes it into much of the Bay Area, making it a decent option for Savage listeners who lost him on KSFO/KNEW/KTRB, but it's not an SF market station.

The 920 watt night signal is not really heard in the Bay Area, and that covers at least the last hour or so of his show during the winter.

With KTRB dumping him in its Held Together By String And Bank Run phase, it's hard to see him back on any station in his home market.
