Paul Christy. Always something positive to say, if there is anything that can be. If not, self-motivated types can infer they have screwed up, and take corrective action. Doesnt ACT like a radio legend, but neither does H&H. He always cracks me up, even reading liners, with that "...I REALLLY MEAN THIS, Im not just SAYING it" delivery.
Will loan you electric cords and not expect them back soon.
 
I've read these posts off and on for years and never had the urge to register and post. But today I did want to chime in on the niceness (is that a real word?) of the gang at KILT to each other. Specifically during the Candea/Brazier days.
It's great when I run into these folks from time to time...and Josh, I expect to see ya' at Sam's Boat this spring :)

I also agree with your vote for RB McEntire. Treats you like a long lost friend even when you meet him for the first time.

Is Jim with any radio station right now? Last time I heard him was on 97.5, before they switched from News to Talk.
 
I guess I will put my $.02 in here, but I haven't seen someone mention him, but you will have to go to the late 80's to early to mid 90's, but how about Bob Ford. Yeah the same guy that currently serves as the Astros' public address announcer. I first met him working at a lumber yard in Galveston and is the type of person that will take the time to talk to you and not look at ya like just a regular schmo just because of what he does. That is a stand up person that nobody has mentioned.

I know some of you can relate to this: have you ever heard somebody with pipes, you wish you had? JD is one of those cats. When he came to KKHT, they couldn't wait to get his voice on the air. They utilized him every chance they got. I sound like a squeaky mouse compared to JD.

I concur wholeheartedly. RB made me feel valued just because he consulted me on microphones and mic chain advice.

I tell you another really nice guy -- Mark Sherman at KODA. In fact, I told him that he was almost too nice for this slimy biz!
 
Mark is a nice guy. I just wonder how much control he has of things there at KODA? He used to do some voicework for the TV station I work for, and we'd talk about a number of radio things. This was before CC owned them, and he was an off-air PD. I asked him if he missed being on-air, and he said sometimes, but he was so busy, and he did a lot of production work, so he was content not doing an airshift everyday. I also told him I appreciated the way that KODA didn't fall into the "current" trap (i.e. KVIL/Dallas-Fort Worth) that most AC stations had fallen into. He said he didn't think they ever would. And, I won't even go into the fact that they are voicetracking afternoons from Birmingham, Alabama. :mad: So, I think CC has tied his hands on a lot of the decision making, and that's a shame, because I always thought Mark was a decent PD. Not to mention, he's from one of my favorite cities, Pittsburgh.
