Emperor Joe had a very infectious laugh, and a very predictable line, "You're a nut!"

When Joe died (I think about 1997 or 1998), Lanigan played an old aircheck of one of the WGAR crossovers that he did with Joe on his WMJI morning show. It was the best kind of tribute....just playing the aircheck and showing what two pros in action sounded like. At they end, Lanigan came back "live" and just said something like "God bless you, Joe". Touching moment.

> I remember it well the day John paid tribute to Joe. Before then, Joe called me and asked if I would be his guest at a Broadcasters Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony where he was being inducted, I said sure, I was so excited and looking forward to going with Joe and Virginia to this induction, then a couple of Sunday's later, Virginia called me one Sunday afternoon and said Joe died this afternoon while cutting grass. I was so shocked. The following day Denny Sanders from WMJI called because he needed some crossovers from the big 1220 WGAR, and I was happy to do it for them. You had a great laugh Joe and was a great friend.

Not much to comment on these two guys. Roth has really improved over the last 6 months. J-Dub is J-Dub. Both good guys. I'm hearing about Rick Black at WKDD. Rumor has it on myspace so far that he's gone now. Sad, for being buried on weekends and late night he's not bad. I've been to the live shows twice and he really has control of the game. The place was overcrowded. I'd imagine he'll find somewhere else to go, not exactly a favorite but Rick Black has made a strong case to be watched if he lands back on his feet here locally.
