Who programs the song info?

How does XM program the song names? I have seen several songs with wrong titles. It is as if they are using a VRP and not double checking that the computer interpreted the voice correctly.

I noticed a couple of goofs on The Village (15) a while back and wrote to the channel's PD, Robert Davis. He told me the title/artist programming, at least for XM's folk music library, is outsourced. I guess that means they're not modifiable on XM's end, because the goofs I told him about -- "Vanguard Folk Sampler" (the collection about a dozen tracks XM plays were ripped from) for the artist instead of the artist's name -- still haven't been corrected. I also wrote to America (10) nearly three YEARS ago to tell them that Conway Twitty sings "That's My Job," not "That's My Baby," but nothing has changed.

How come MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice are credited on a couple of songs of each others... I often see MC Hammer/Vanilla Ice 2 Legit 2 Quit and I think I may have seen another but thats the only one I can remeber

Ive noticed sevral songs with the wrong info. Also lately sometimes the data wont change at all so when recording to the myfi it is one 3 hour track.

Most likely because there is a Capitol budget compilation CD "Back 2 Back Hits" that contains both artists. They may have just used the cddb database do the dirty work in this case.

Yeah, I had that problem the first day I had my MyFi set up...I had plans for the evening, so I decided to record Eddie Trunk's show when he was still on The Bone Yard. The track finally split midway through his first song, something fron Anthrax, but then didn't change until four hours later, when his show ended. I haven't had problems with other music channels; I often MyFi the Highway 16 Traffic Report, and that usually comes out fine.

Speaking of the PAD Data though, why is it updated during O&A's live show, but not on the replays? I noticed it when I recorded a replay on my MyFi and the only times it changed were during the breaks.

I had some stuff on my receiver and decided to turn it on and let it record yesterday. When I went out for lunch I started paging through the songs recorded and all of them were the old recording, but the tunes were what was played yesterday. I tried forwarding to the next song and it would break into the middle of the song or fwd through spots and break into the same song 2 or 3 times.

Anyone found a way to dl the songs onto a computer? Every once in a while I would like to hang onto a song but the receiver won't let me choose what to delete or keep (all or nothing)

I finally saw the song that prompted the question (I couldn't remember what it was). Sly $ The Family Stone singing Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin). There were a couple of other songs where they transposed the artist and song title.

There are quite a few tracks where the artist and title are identical. Pat Benatar's "Promises in the Dark" appears as "Pat Benatar / Pat Benatar." Folk artists Fred Small and Mary Black have several cuts that appear as "Fred Small / Fred Small" and "Mary Black / Mary Black." I've also run into a few songs whose titles begin with "Copy of" -- apparently XM ripping a song from a copy instead of the original source, which I think they're not supposed to do.

All of these titling errors have been present for at least two years. Nothing ever gets fixed. I guess the job IS outsourced and XM isn't particularly concerned about the quality of work that business does.
