Who Should and Shouldn't 96 Rock Hire For Mornings?

You know they're all reading this, so give it your best shot. Last time it was "Bob & Tom." Should they try to build another local show, or go with syndication again? I know many of you will say Rich & Toucher, but forget it. They're under contract to CBS in Boston. Ain't gonna happen right away. So who do you suggest?

What's Rhodes up to lately? I liked the Southside and Rhodes afternoon drive show. I wouldn't mind both of them in the morning again.

I should've added that Bob and Tom is something that I cannot listen to at all. I didn't find anyone who said they enjoyed that show either when they were on in Atlanta.

Now might the time to bring Opie & Anthony to The ATL. Even though they're CBS, Clear Channel could benefit from it. Stern was CBS(Infinity), and he was on several stations owned by CC.
They is no place for them at DAVE. 96 Rock could be a good fit. CBS gets O&A in the market, and Clear Channel gets the AD revenue. Building a local morning show would be nice. But unlikely
with the cookie cutter/corporate radio mentality of today.

I'd like to see Cousin ED from Free-FM (WYSP) in Philly do a morning show here. Just a thought.

Someone suggested to me yesterday bringing Rick and Bubba to Atlanta on 96 Rock. Don't know if this would fit, but they are on some classic rock stations already. Who in the past could come back and do the morning show. How about Bobby Harper from the grave? Gary McKee? What about hiring back Steve Mitchell and Mark McCain from Eagle? They had a great morning show in the 80's.

Mark and Steve and Popeye!! ;D And sporadic appearances by Carol Channing. Theirs was a funny show.

Should:
1. Bring back TRG and tell everyone it was just a PR stunt.
2. Southside/Rhodes with Tim Andrews and the usual suspects.
3. Pete Davis and Wayne No Offense.
4. Skip and Chip. All Braves, all the time.
or...
5. The man who ruled Atlanta radio ('88-92), David Paul.

Shouldn't:
1. Me or anyone else on this board.
2. Yogi and Panda.
3. Barnes.
4. Jimmy.
5. Freddie Mertz.

Mancow is picking up syndication deals everywhere lately

This would be the smartest move for CC. He is probably the one of the few available options who would resonate with the Regular Guys' fans. That being said, look for Wake up with Whoopi.

I'd say reinstate The Regular Guys, but I think that is completely out of the question (for good this time).

I vote for Southside and Rhodes. I really enjoyed their afternoon show and have been missing them.
Plus, their ratings were good and the audience is already familiar with them. 96rock does not need to end 2006 and be without The Regular Guys, Southside Steve, and Tim Rhodes.

I really hope they don't go with a syndicated show. A syndicated morning show on FM just makes the station seem lifeless to me. But I bet they will either do that or stick with the music thing. They probably want to go with the safest option possible after this whole Regular Guys matter. So, I'd rather them keep Fin in mornings than going with something syndicated.

As mentioned on another thread, look for CC to install their latest morning show product on 96Rock: Lex & Terry.

I know the PERFECT morning show that clear channel needs to put on the air in HOTlanta. It would The Monsters in the Morning. They are currently on wtks in Orlando and they also broadcast LIVE on XM Channel 152. If you have never hear of " The Monsters in the Morning" go to Monsters.fm and get the know them. Because if Clear Channel wants to win in the rateings not only in Atlanta but any where. They need to have the monsters on.

I would suggest that CC took this a prime opportunity to blow out the show and will now blow up the radio station.

Now why do I think you created an account just to post this? ??? And please provide data showing they'd win in Atlanta. ::)

MITM are "eh" at best. :-*

With the exception of a brief try at GST and a guest appearance on TRG last year, David Paul has not been on the air in Atlanta since 1992. Yet he still pops up on this board over and over again…

Could David Paul be successful in 2006?

I never heard back then but I could see he had good skills when TRG had him on several times. He knew how to rev the audience up. Carry a morning show I do not know.
