Who Signs Off Or Changes Power/Pattern at 8:30 EDT on 890?

Heard interference on 890 to WLS tonight. I heard some of my locals reduce and change patterns right at 8:30 PM, and switched to 890, heard music interfering, and about 8:31 PM it just disappeared.

A trick I use to get every station in the country - I go to radio-locator, type in Wichita, KS (about the middle of the country), set radius to 2500 miles (their maximum):

Don't suppose it could have been WKNV in Fairlawn, VA. That would be too easy.

They play Southern Gospel.

Nice.

Now that AM Logbook is gone, we have to work a bit harder.

Instead of doing that, I suggest this site, which lists all US and Canadian stations complete with day/night power, formats and station nicknames: http://www.topazdesigns.com/ambc/

This may not be conclusive, but WKNV sunset is 8:15 PM in August. I'm looking for something within plus or minus 2 degrees of longitude, from 81 to 85. Actually it's on the western edge of 8:30 PM. Less than 1 degree further west is 8:45 PM. So it's probably 79 to 83. It lasted such a short time. It was like, what's this music in the background on 890, then it was gone and WLS was alone. This close to the equinox, sunset times are probably not that distorted east west with varying latitude. But it probably was a Christian format, since many music formats on AM are these days.

No it not..I could still log on there site

was it spanish/tropical music? could have been 890 here outside Boston. Wait, where are you Schroedingers Cat?

Topaz Designs is the BEST from what I've seen. It's a great source to find out what I had on AM DX. One time I had a 1340 that sounded like "KTFN" at TOH - found out it was KTSN Elko NV at over 550 miles.

I cut and pasted Lee Freshwater's AM log to notepad, and I update it manually on my computer -- it's been very useful for that.

That Topaz site looks interesting. And I wasn't aware of the Radio-Locator trick.

Best I can tell the only two stations on 890 that sign off or change patterns/power at 8:30 EDT are WYAM (Hartselle, Alabama) and WJTP. (Lithia Springs, Georgia outside Atlanta) The former carries a Spanish-language format & the latter relays China Radio International.

http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/amq.html , select a station(s) with various criteria. Click on the call letters for one of the hits, and there's a link for showing sunrise/sunset times.
