WHO SUCKED WIND IN THE FALL BOOK?

Notice that in this economy the big ratings discussion about who won and who lost and who will change format is not on any boards this time around. With CC cuts dominating the radio industry the ratings seem minor. In Seattle, for what it is worth ,the usual players were on top:

25-54 Adults went to KISW, KIRO and KZOK
25-54 Women went to KRWM, KPLZ and KCMS
25-54 Men went to KISW, KZOK and KIRO
18-34 went to KISW and KUBE

Morning drive had the same stations in about the same order, except KRWM which was not top five in mornings. A big Christmas month for KRWM and KCMS, but not as strong as in past years. Country had a rough book but KMPS was still top five. KNDD, KWJZ, KBKS, KQMV, JACK and the AM stations still struggling. Seems Smooth Jazz is very troubled with seven down trends and the PPM on the horizon. AM radio is also troubled with no AM stations in the top ten in Seattle. (KIRO was boosted by big FM numbers in their combo)

Somehow with 1850 layoffs in our business yesterday this doesn't seem that important. Haven't heard how Clear Channel Seattle survived the cuts but hopefully they were not hit as hard as places like San Diego, Dallas and Charlotte.

So far it looks like the move on 97.3 from oldies to news-talk was a good one doesn't it? Maybe their timing to have made that bold move was spot on, and will probably sling-shot them past KOMO for news, while grabbing the market sports numbers on 710.

We'll see over the four book average, but to me it looks like the plan is working so far.

This is really book one for the KIRO AM/FM combo. The total combo rating 25-54 was a mid four share. One year ago KIRO-AM alone had a three share and KBSG-FM had a two point seven share. That is a 27% decrease in prime share for the two signals. Interesting in looking at extraps KOMO actually beat KIRO AM/FM combo number for December. The election month really was big for KIRO-FM, but what happens when there is no election? In essense both stations are killing each other outside of the election month. Neither the KIRO AM/FM combo or KOMO is top 15 except in November, when KIRO talkers did well. Mornings went to KOMO for the book in prime demos.

Country is just fine 8) Each year Christmas music on the sleepy soft Ac stations like KRWM and KCMS get a boost and someone pays. This year is was country. No big thing 8) On a four book WOLF and KMPS are just fine. WOLF has the younger demos and KMPS the 45+. KIRO AM/FM got a lucky one trend in November thanks to the election dudes. In October and December that dog barely cracked a two share 25-54 as a frickin combo :-[ KOMO barely cracked a two share in any month :-\ Bonnheadaville should never have flipped KBSG specially since the format is doin pretty damn well in the ole PPM. Look at K-EARTH in LA  I agree with dan-o. Ratings don't mean that much with Cheap channel bootin people to the curb and the Personal pain meter comin :-[ I was actually hoping KISS and Smooth Jazz would turn it around. Cheap Channel will look at the KISS numbers and open fire :-[ Smooth Jazz is dying everywhere and I actually like the ole format Sundays. What format is left for KWJZ ???

How did KIRO after 7 (Luke Burbank) do? Is KIRO getting their quarter-mil worth yet?

I highly doubt he is making 250k a year. If that is what KIRO was offering, I know of at least 2 other local talents that would have accepted the position when they KIRO approached them.

Wait for the PPM and see whether my predictions are right or wrong ;D
Lookin at other markets it ain't pretty for Rythmic but Mainstream looks strong. So does Country, AC, HOT-AC and Classic Hits. That ain't a prediction that's right out of the arbitron comparison ;)

Rhythmic is dying and has been for some time...and instead of taking the truth for what it is, some people on this board (ahem, AQH) just keep wanting to provoke something out of me. But I don't need to say anything and drag it out in long and ridiculous threads, time proves me right in the end. Just like the fall of the industry I've been writing about for years. No one believed me until it finally happened. So I'll leave it there........

Ah, the "woe is me" defense.

There's no attempts at provocation here, I'm just trying to get you to prove what you're saying. You have no shortage of commenting on other peoples' points or opinions, I find it interesting to say the least you simply can't prove a statement that you typed.

It's ironic that you demand accountability out of people, even going as far as saying that the Clear Channel CEO should be in prison. Yet, you fail to account for a statement you said.

Keep up the personal attacks; they clearly show your shortcomings on accountability.

I will repeat:

I don't need to say anything and drag it out in long and ridiculous threads, time proves me right in the end.

Repeat it all you want. The fact of the matter is you can't prove what you said.

I've been wrong before on this board, and so have others. But being only right is apparently what is paramount to you. And doing something like shifting the goalposts to "in the end" rather than proving a statement you said about Rhythmic CHR faltering today is something that corporate radio does.

So, congratulations, apparently you do embrace today's corporate radio culture.

Well, now .... if everyone has to offer PROOF every time they express an opinion or put tongue in cheek, then that's REALLY going to suck all the fun out of politics.

Ladies! Ladies, please!!! all i did when i started this thread was ask who sucked wind in the last book,
let's not have a pi**ing match.no need to be hurtful.on yer bike!
