Who talks over a sweeper?

Sugabear at 101.5. Just heard him talk over an entire sweeper from beginning to end like nothing. Kept talking as the sweeper played like it was the normal thing to do. Incredible. Who hires the talent at CBS?

Well Power 98.3 on a rimshot out of Mayer is beating them in the numbers so apparently not too many. Kinda sad for a megawatt station with signal broadcast off south mountain.

I assume by megwatt, you just mean high powered, right? Megawatt implies 1 million watts.. and they're at 100KW/1739 feet, very very clsoe to the max of 100KW/2000 ft

Yes radioguy, that's what I meant. Thanks for clearing that up. The voicetracking misfire may be possible, but I'm pretty sure Sugabear is live at nights.

I am not in the market and dont know anything about the station.... but not all night shows are live.

If it was a computer mistake that he talked over a sweeper, that's one thing. But today there seems to be no rules in place for radio. There was a time when you weren't supposed to talk after a bumper because a bumper is exactly that, and not intended to be a stop set. Nowadays, anything goes.
What grabs me the most, and it's traditional, is to introduce yourself after some recorded intro by a highly paid voice talent. I love watching Jon Stewart, but he does it too. It seems to me that unless a substitute is hosting a show, why the hell say your name(and everyone else's name that's already been announced) again. I guess some traditions will always remain redundant and can't be changed because "we've always done it that way."

Actually there is ... Technically Personalities are not supposed to talk over the liners.
Must have been a self-taught jock from Brown Institute. They break all the rules.

With no PD (since June?) expect them to continue to do whatever they want and fail miserably trying.
