WHO THINKS JOHN LOUGHLIN SHOULD HAVE HIS OWN SHOW?

In the past year and a half or so, 2010 US House nominee John Loughlin has guest hosted for Helen Glover and Matt Allen. Which begs the question "Should John be given his own show on a full time basis (if he's offered that opportunity and if he so chooses to seek that path)?

He's a decent guy too. I've met him on a number of occasions. He used to do a number of on air commentaries here at 12.

I know I'm voicing the minority point of view, but......

WHY does the business always seem to look to ex-politicos as potential talk hosts? For every one Buddy Cianci or Arlene Violet who successfully pulled it off....there are any number of DUDS.

And shouldn't talk radio (in a more perfect world)....have a broader, more balanced diet of things to talk about? Personally....I'm so very tired of discussions revolving around the in's and outs of what's going on in the Rhode Island Assembly, for example.

For area talk radio to focus so intensely on local politics doesn't do much to serve Bristol County Massachusetts....which just happens to represent a significant part of the listening area.

Just my inflation ravaged 2 cents. ;)

Outside of Dartmouth and some of the suburbs, targeting Bristol County in MA is a waste of time..Fall River's average income, as one example, is around 29-thousand dollars..no reason to be targeted if you've got no cash to spend..
