Who voiced this spot??

This isnt exactly true to the radio forum but I have to ask the gray beards a question because I have a very small bet (steak dinner) riding on it. Does anyone remember the name of the guy that did the old Puyallup raceways and S.I.R. spots back in the late 60's thru the 70's? He had a ballzee booming almost frantic voice and a buddy of mine insists that its the same voice that we hear doing the Sound Ford commercials today..

Didn't Dean Smith (former KIXI manager) do some work for SIR? I know he did a lot of voice work back in the 70's.

Jim Rockstad (SIR GM after Doner) has some audio clips of the Doner ads, but not "64 FUNNY CARS." Anyone know where I can find a clip?

It was Bill Doaner. Jim Dai and I were talking about him just yesterday at work. We're at KOZI / Z-Country 94.7.

When did KZAL flip? They seemed to be a good AC - and now it's only KAAP Rock Island for an AC station.

Yes Randy do shed some light on this, I thought KZAL was the best AC station around not only in the state but in the country. I can't compare what KAAP sounds like because they still don't stream.

Randy would have the exact date, something like 2012 or so.. He went over (back) there from his gig at KMAS, eventually making PD of KZAL and KOHO.

As I was told, KZAL was stable, but sleepy, while the dominant country station over there pretty-much had the market. KZAL management let Randy see what he could do with the station and, from what I understand, he's helped it become more successful than it had been with AC. That, eventually, put him in the PD slot at KOHO as well.

Personal tastes aside, it's all about the numbers.

How does KZAL do vs. KYSN/KKRV I wonder? They have a 99 watt booster to serve Wenatchee due to the hills blocking Chelan. Last time I went through Wenatchee a couple years ago, I could barely get KOZI 93.5 n town. It was mostly bleedover from everything else in town...
