Who was REALLY listening??

I decided to do some hard research and I came up with this listener chart to give everyone an idea of how many people were really listening to which stations.

1 point equals approx. 10,750 listeners.

Using the current numbers for Market #46 (New Orleans)

WQUE-FM - 142,975
WYLD-FM - 131,150
WNOE-FM - 76,325
WLMG-FM - 67,725
WWL-AM - 67,725
KMEZ-FM - 63,425
WTKL-FM - 47,300
WKBU-FM - 44,075
WEZB-FM - 41,925
WYLD-AM - 35,475
KKND-FM - 32,250
WRNO-FM - 32,250
KNOU-FM - 24,725
KHEV-FM - 19,350
PRAISE-FM - 19,350
WDVW-FM - 16,125
WSMB-AM - 13,975
WTIX-AM - 13,975
WBOK-AM - 11,825
WTIX-FM - 9,675
WODT-AM - 8,600
WGSO-AM - 4,300
TOTAL - 924,500

which means about 254,800 people don't listen to the radio

Company Percentages:
Clear Channel - 48.3% (446,125)
Entercom - 30.6% (282,725)
Citadel - 12.1% (111,800)
Other - 9% (72,025)

Ah, yes I love MS Excel, anyway, feel free to make your comments.

Was this before or after half of these stations were knocked off the air and before or after some of them lost their audiences to Houston, Atlanta, Little Rock, etc?
And what exactly was you "methodology?"
Hmmmmmm?
Sounds like a crock to me.

Probably from the last release that was released right after Katrina in August that's posted on the R&R site.
Arbitron said they are not releasing summer and fall books from the areas hit by Katrina (NOLA and Biloxi/Gulfport(who is fall only)

He did leave out a few radio stations not normally listed on the R&R site (such as Lifesongs and WWNO) which account for some of those "non radio" listeners.

Now the guess will be who dropped and who didn't when the books start rolling.

I want your opinion on this one ksw2844:

I think personally you will see q93 loosing it number 1 spot and my guess will be it coming in around the 3rd or 5th station when reporting starts again at most (with WWL being first would be my guess)...What do you think?

(I base this off of news reports and from talking with refugees, the fact that most African Americans seem to be moving out of the state more than the White population (who seem more to stay somewhere else in the DMA like Jefferson Parish or just outside of it (like around The Mississippi border or Baton Rouge)

RFLA

RFLA,
I agree with your theory concerning post-Katrina shifts. Q93 should fall several positions. So will the other urbans, but I think 98.5 may not be hurt as bad as the others. The've always had better qualitative and their audience may also be in the outlying TSA area. WWL should become the dominant station in market.
