Who will be hosting the 'After Innings' show at WLW? Will there still be one?

Maybe this info is already available but I haven't heard anything about it.

I ask because I heard Tracy Jones talking with Seg Dennison yesterday and it really reminded me of baseball and enjoyable post game listening. Andy was #1, but Tracy was a great #2.

I hope its Tracy that we get to listen to after the games...and not anyone from WLW's stable of 'sports/child rearing' experts.

I have to ask......because I find Tracy Jones to be absolutely unlistenable....always talkin about himself, and not the game we just heard......what do you like about him? The calls from the lawnmower repair guy, and the rich guy from Indian Hill....tiresome. Ohhh so tiresome.

I'm not trying to start any war. I'm really curious what you like about him.

I have to agree with DJJack1, for someone who knows so much about baseball, he never shows it. Always talking stupid stuff like the rich guy, etc.

I'm not a fan of those moments either. Some of those set-ups with his stable of 'characters' really were bad.

I doubt they would last however if Tracy was put into the #1 position, hopefully.

Tracy indeed does have his faults, but can you tell me who you would rather hear than him as a host for 'After Innings'?

Surely the decision has been made by now. I just haven't heard anything about it. Maybe its not decided yet.

what ever happened to andy mac??? there was a guy who really knew his sports and could make it interesting to joe sports fan--david5258

Unfortunately Andy MacWilliams had to retire from broadcasting due to voice problems....I agree Andy Mac was a true pro...I ended up being a fan of Xavier basketball because of his broadcasting

Re: Who will be hosting the 'After Innings' show at WLW? Will there still be one

I guess either the show won't be broadcast or they haven't decided who's going to be doing it.

i remember when andymac was on burbank. yes, it sounded like he had asthma, as did galen swartentruber in wooster. both men loved to make sports personal to the average sports fan. andymac, if you are up to it, you need to have burbank twist darryl's arm to host the postgame callin show. either that or have seg dennison as a cohost(sportorconsequences redux)--david5258

Brian65,

I can't remember where I heard it, but I believe Tracy Jones is going to be doing the After Innings shows again this season, and that is actually why he was on the air this past week.

I don't think I'll be listening because what you call "moments" always seemed like entire shows to me. ;-)

As to who I'd rather hear doing it.....well SEG always seems like he's talking faster than he's thinking and may be a bit un-prepared whenever he hosts SportsTalk, so I vote no on him. Plus he's already at the station 20 hours a day it seems...let the man rest.

Do I want to hear Alan Cutler doing the show? No, I don't think I do. NO, I DON'T think I DO. I mean, I really don't. I gotta be honest with ya...I just don't.

I guess it depends on who they get to fill the SportsTalk role. If I knew Jack about sports <hehehe...I said Jack> then I'd apply, but I really don't. Man's got to know his limitations.

There is no show called "After Innings". Maybe Furman and Supertalk should create one to go after WLW...lol. The show is called Extra Innings, I'd say it will be a combination of Seg & Tracy at first followed by whoever takes over the Sports Talk show unless its Daughtery, who is horrific on the radio

Re: Who will be hosting the 'After Innings' show at WLW? Will there still be one

Yeah, it seems kind of undecided now, and probably will be until "Sports Talk" gets resolved.

Since Gamble walked away from a three-year deal to do "SportsTalk" and the "Extra Innings" show, who knows. Makes you realize how much Andy was contributing when they sacked him.

I wonder if they would end up hiring 2 people to do both shows, though that doesn't seem very efficient.

I don't see Tracy Jones mentioned anywhere on the WLW website.

Do I want to hear Tracy? NO! Cutler is a NO-brainer(less). But I heard this guy doing news....must be new there. Sounds kinda familiar to me. I think he did sports somewhere along the line. Bet he would be a potential candidate. DJJack, please do tell me how you REALLY feel about the CUT-man.

I was just tryin to do an impression of him. I wondered if it would work in print. Oops. hehehe

and yeah...it's Extra Innings. I even knew that when I was typing, but guess I got it stuck in my head cuz of how it had been referred to before. I have GOT to buy better-tasting shoes.

Well, I got the Cutler impersonation. It made me cringe, just like listening to the real thing. He's very good at carrying on a conversation with himself.

Yeah, sorry about the "After/Extra". A typo that I can't correct. :D

I'd definately prefer Tracy Jones to anyone else at WLW..especially Alan Cutler. Tracy would have to cut out his pre-arranged calls with fictional 'fans' though. Thats one part of his schtick that wore out after about a week.

I always thought Scott Springer worked very well behind a microphone. I think he's under utilized there, although I have no idea what he does when he isn't on the air or making those car commecials. He seems pretty sharp and has a good way with people, at least the few times I've heard him live with time to say things non-scripted.
