Who Will Flip First, Pulse 87 or 101.9 RXP?

Well, I've never started a "Pulse is dying" thread.

Though when the day does indeed happen, I'm sure DToTheJ will start learning some dance moves, in happiness to spite the format! :D Be sure I will have a response when this happens. But I'm not going to lead a protest outside of a radio station.

RXP stands to get more listeners that used to like GRock. Pulse gets new listeners daily since its inception. I like Pulse more than any other station in the world. It's so hard to decide.

One of my 2009 predictions was that Pulse 87.7 would make it to the end of the year, and I still stand by that :)

Another one of my predictions is that WRXP would not make it to the end of the year, and I stand by that as well. While some of the former G-Rock listeners may turn to it, RXP isn't quite the same station, and those listeners will tune out the first time they hear RXP throw on some Led Zep or some 80's dino-rock. The size of G-Rock's audience, in proportion to the NYC metro area, also won't give RXP more than a minuscule, insignificant increase in the ratings, at best.

Just incase RXP officially flips, do you think there will be more protesters than the ones for G-Rock? ;D

In a word, no. :D

Though I can't tell if you seem to be implying that the number of protesters for G-Rock was low or high. I say 200 listeners turning out for a protest for a relatively small suburban station is much better than the 200 or so (or maybe even less) CBS-FM protesters that came out when their station was jacked.

To be honest, I'm trying to see how many loyal fans there are for RXP and if anyone would care if RXP flips. ::)

I don't think there's been enough time or enough listeners for there to be many loyal fans or people who would shed a tear if the station flips.

However, what I can see happening is the "I told you so" naysayers will come out of the woodwork, both here and especially on the "dentist" board, telling us that RXP failed because a new rock station can't work in NYC, conveniently ignoring the fact that RXP is not a new rock station.

Did you have a good time at the rally? 8) But here's the deal with CBS-FM, there were more e-mails and letters sent to the station than protesters, don't let that number fool you. I'm sure CBS at that time had more complaints than their listeners, and the listeners still put the fight on when CBS was on HD. This is what the fans for G-Rock have to do. They need to give it to corporate and realize that they made the biggest mistake to pull the plug. It worked for CBS, it worked for Party 105, it can work for G-Rock if the fans show corporate how loyal they are to their station.

and that, my dear, is precisely WHY the station came back - 'cos the fans NEVER EVER gave up... 8)

Pulse will flip..from being in business to being out of business..

CBS-FM got jacked in the summer, GRock got Hit in the winter. It takes a lot more to get people to come out in the cold to protest. And also, New York City is very densely populated, there are probably a million people within a few miles of where their rally was. Was there a rally at all for Party 105 when it got channelcasted?
All I remember about Party 105's channelcasting is that 101.7 the Beat/Beach became dance friendly, I have a distinct memory of hearing QED - Islands on 101.7.

On June 21, 2005, the day of the CBS-FM rally, the temperature was 95 degrees, and there were only 150 people in attendance (I should know - I was one of them!!) :) but we didn't give up, and two years and three weeks after that day... :)

'CBS-FM has its own conundrum to confront, namely that its listeners are just as old today as they were before the station was "Jacked". As for 'RXP, I don't think a station that segues a song by the Strokes with a song by Elton John is meant to last very long in this universe.
