Who will get The CW Television Network in Jacksonville???

I know that this for radio but something off the road here for a second. Since WB and UPN are merging in Septmeber to produce the CW Network I just want to know who thinks where the network will land in Jacksonville. We have a good possibilty of three stations that could fit the bill but I have a favorite in this one and I will tell you who I think will win out.

Here are the three stations that could vie for the CW Network.

1. WJXT Channel 4
2. WJWB Channel 17 (current WB affiliate)
3. WAWS Channel 30 (current FOX/UPN affiliate)

1. With Channel 4 beinging independent they will not go back to affiliation even thought it would look good. The Reason: the station has proven to do well as an indepedent and not having a network to worry about.

2. Channel 17 is the strongest in the field here with being one of the Top WB affiliates in the nation. I will admit this is the station I am hoping gets the CW. Now if 17 gets it they should get a news operation up and running again because the only good news programming that Jax has is Channel 4 in my opinion. Also it will make them more competive to the other stations but should target news towards the new network's age group.

3. Channel 30 could vie for it since does holds the UPN affliation but since that has been a secondary affliation since 2002 and now it is 2006 it would sound like that they will be left with Fox in September. Now Clear Channel could go after the CW and dump Fox over to Channel 17 if that is what they want if goes there way but it will proably not happen. But what if did?? Imagine us saying this FOX 17 and CW 30. Now will be proably will be saying in September CW 17.

Tell me what you think

I think it's obvious 17 will get the CW...but you raise an interesting scenario.

What if 30, for some hairbrained reason, went after the CW & got it? Would Fox go to 4?

I think it's more plausible that Fox would be on 4 than CW (though I can't see why any station would pick CW over a Fox affiliation, unless they happen to be CBS- or Tribune-owned), because CW is half owned by the very company that 4 split with, CBS, and I'm sure 4 enjoys its freedom. It's not like the CW programming would bring all that much better numbers than the syndicated shows they run now, so the added restrictions/choices in programming wouldn't be desirable to WJXT.

I think it's almost 100% that CW will be on channel 17. It would shock me if it weren't.

Of course, I'll be much happier about it, because my show will be on earlier. I loves me some Veronica Mars! :)
