Who will get the new CW affiliation in Fresno?

I wonder which Fresno TV station is going to get the new CW affiliation since neither CBS or Tribune own a station in the Fresno market. Will it be KAIL TV 53 or KFRE TV 59? Any guesses?

If KFRE ends up with it, KAIL is in deep trouble. Before UPN, that station was an also-ran in every sense of the word. KFRE, having just added news at 11pm and having Pappas' war chest of cross-promotion and time-shiftable programs to back it, seems to be a better choice for CW.

I would love to see KFRE get but what would stop Pappas from bringing Azteca America to Fresno?

A lot...

~ The fact that Cocola already owns an Azteca America station in Fresno.

~ The fact that Azteca America's ratings are not great either doesn't make it likely.

~ Pappas hasn't added any AA stations in several months if not years.

~ Pappas would have to cancel the syndication/programming contracts and would cost many thousands of dollars.
