WHO WILL GO ALL-CHRISTMAS FIRST? WODS OR WROR?

I still think they are waiting each other out (ROR and ODS, that is). I think they'll go "all-holiday" within minutes of each other.

I notice that ODS has a listener poll going. If you believe it's not rigged, the listeners are now about 75-25 percent in favor of going all-Christmas right now.

sadly, i dont think christmas music will be played this year in boston!

It will, give it time. They're most likely waiting for Thanksgiving, because starting it right now would seem odd. They must have gotten alot of complaints last year about how early they started, because alot of people I knew where whining about how early christmas music was on.

Don't worry about the Holiday Music popping up on an HD2 for years to come, it would be a stupid move on the station's part, seriously what is the point besides to promote the new technology? Especially if the competition isn't. The better idea is to do it vice versa and continue regular programming on the HD2.

Too meep*-ing early.

At 1:01 pm: WROR, inst. version of Joy to the World
Old Christmas jingle ("there are wonderful toys for all the girls and boys")
Next Feliz Navidad

1:02, WODS: Rockin Around the Christmas Tree.

Both stations now going off my presets.

Sure, let them switch to all of those other classic hits (oldies) stations in the market. And, while you're at it, let them eat cake too. Aside from those with a good signal from North Shore 104.9, there is no other oldies station to switch to. So, your comment is a bit "uninformed" - to say the least.

It never ceases to amaze me that BOTH stations feel the need to do this.....at the same time! What a dumb move. WODS, in particular, would do better to stick with the format while gradually sprinkling in an increasing number of Christmas tunes as we work our way toward December 25. That is the more prudent move. With both of them doing this, there's little room for either one to clean up with it.

In an market with as little variety as Boston, this makes matters even worse. Good news for WBOQ, I suppose.

Looks like they saw this post, and posted on the front page that this is when the flips happened... not the case. According to yes.com, WODS started at 12:05, ROR at 12:24.

Well I didn't mean that the flip was at 1 pm...apparently was already under way for an hour. I was just saying what was playing when I checked it at 1. (note btw that the 'clock' on these posts is off by an hour) (modifying this post). I did the post just now (this one) at 3:17 but the time stamp says 2:17

Must have more than a few folks out of work with nothing to do but monitor the big flip!
I hope someone notified Brian Ross for a special report on ABC's World News Tonight. ;)

Re: WHO WILL GO ALL-CHRISTMAS FIRST? WODS OR WROR?

I am sure our friend cbf is soooooooooo happy now.;D Other options with similar formats to 103.3 WODS and 105.7 WROR are North Shore 104.9 as mentioned, and also 106.3 Frank FM for those north of Boston, B101 (101.5) WWBB for those south of Boston, and for those west of route 495, there are Oldies 98.9 and 100.1 The Pike.  If you live in southeast Massachusetts there is Cool 102 (101.9), and also you may be able to get Dunes 102.3 if you live near the Cape.

Raccoon, you need to go into your account settings and change the clock settings to +1. R-I's parent company is based in Chicago and Board Time is Central Time now unless you change it yourself. It was on the R-I help board last week.

I guess that they do not grasp the concept of
"counter-programming"...

Jeff, neither does Clear Channel. At one time we had 2 Hip-Hop stations in Hartford CBS's HOT 93.7 (the original) and CC's POWER 104. On Sundays both would play Old School, Reggaeton, and Regaee Music at the same time, so there would be no hip-hop music on the 2 hip-hop radio stations.
